Word of advice...If one does a little research before commenting it increases one's potential for credibility ten fold.
You obviously haven't a clue the definition of American Exceptionalism.

Or you don't. American expectionalism is not the richest people in the world get everything. Expectionalism is where all citizens have the best standard of living. That includes education, healthcare, a good paying job and affordable non-durable goods. We don't have that anymore.

Government can help regulate it, they are not going to create all jobs but all of our jobs are dependent on the government. Think about it:

Small business restaurant owners are able to purchase food at cheaper prices thanks to farm subsides that are able to subsides farmers income which means cheaper food for all.

Small Businesses now don't have to be on the hook for their retired worker's healthcare cost because of Medicare.

Construction companies are able to get jobs by building infrastrure by the government.

And plenty of other examples.

The point is that while government is not the sole employer and will never be, it does facilitate private business for the greater good. Without Government, we become Somolia.

Oh who am I kidding, teabaggers go to Somolia, its a very nice place. None of that stupid government in the way.

Where is it written that any business, large or small has to offer a pension plan of any kind to employees?
Really?...The statement you made ...."Small Businesses now don't have to be on the hook for their retired worker's healthcare cost because of Medicare."
That implies that you believe at one point small businesses were somehow required to offer employees retirement benefits.....How about you produce such a regulation ever existed.
Dependency on government is what the the political Left needs to have in order to grow the size of government and increase the number of entitlements and transfer payments.
Government should put back in it's cage. First we have to shrink the size of the federal government. Too much bureaucracy, too many employees making too much money and drawing benefits the private sector can only dream of.

Farm subsidies do not ONLY pay farmers not to raise crops.
Learn a bit about what you speak.

I am a farmer. although I have never accepted a dime in federal farm money I know a bit about it as all my farmer buddies talk about it a lot and most of them do accept subsidies.
Did you anywhere in my post that farm subsidies are used ONLY to pay farmers to not grow certain crops? I didn't think so... since you claim to be a farmer( BTW WTF is a farmer doing on a message board at midnight or 11pm when most farmers are up at 4 or 5AM) Why don't you enlighten us on what other things farm subsidies are used for?

And one other thing. It was not necessary for you to state you've never taken a dime in subsidies. It's irrelevant and quite frankly raises suspicion you are potentially full of shit on that point.

Actually the majority of the few private employers that provided retiree health care benefits dump those benefits when the retiree becomes eligable for medicare.
Or at most will pay for the medicare supplement plan.

I still farm but not able to in person now. I am wheelchair bound.

Just so I do not mess up the reply here is some good info.
I believe what you refer to for not growing stuff is a conservation program not a subsidy program.
Article begins:

Farm subsidies are a controversial topic in many circles. The essence of a farm subsidy is giving tax dollars to farmers to help supplement their incomes, pay for equipment, and other farm costs. Crops that are on the farm subsidies list include: corn, soybeans, cotton, sugar, milk, and many more. In all, there are over two dozen crops that the United States government provides subsidies for. Each year under the farm bill, they spend over $16 billion to subsidize farms. Many people do not understand the basics behind farm subsidies. Here is a little information to consider on the topic.

Subsidy Basics

The basic idea behind farm subsidies is simple. Farmers that produce certain crops are given money by the government to help run their farms. They are given the subsidies based upon the price of the crops that they produce. The government has set standards for how much they will guarantee the price of crops to be. For example, let's say that the government decided to set the price at $2.50 a bushel. If the price for corn on the open market is only going for $2.00 bushel, the government would then give $.50 per bushel to the farms that sold it at $2.00. Therefore, they guarantee that the farmer will receive at least $2.50 per bushel no matter what happens in the market.
