Pastor Gives very Unusual Pre-Race Prayer

The prayer was juvenile at best.

No matter how much we try to justify the use of humor and levity, our prayers should be short, contrite, sober and given in complete sublimation to the Father. I understand what the Pastor was attempting to do. He skippers a large congregation and is a phenominal church leader and family man. The marriage of American culture and Christian prayer (especially one broadcast to the world) should never be mixed with comments sifted out of a NASCAR movie, especially the comment about his smokin hot wife.

Keep a public prayer, short, humorless, and give thanks to the Father and to our Savior. This would have been a wonderful opportunity for the Pastor to evangelize the millions who were watching NASCAR by satellite.

And he took full advantage. People need to know that we got our sense of humor from God.
