Oprah wants respect for Obama

Why is it hypocritical for Oprah to support Obama?

I think that the point of the OP was that Oprah was not demanding respect for the office of the POTUS during Bush's term.

It was sorta hard to "respect" Scalia's appointment..but heck..there was some given.

No one told Bush the people hated him. Or that he wasn't born in the country. Or that he was a Muslim..even if he stated he was a Christian. They didn't call Bush a commie..or told him he was a liar in the chambers of congress.

Naw..none of that was done to Bush.

It was done to Obama by the fucking American hating anti Constitutionalist right.

So? Did Rush Limbaugh attack Bush as much as he does Obama?

Bias does not equal hypocrisy.

No, but the entire MSM had a field day with insulting Bush (who I dislike immensely) and Oprah said not a word~

Feel free. You Tube is your friend. Back up your claims.

She want's Respect for Obama?

Respect is earned, and you do not earn it. By hiding who you really are to get elected, Lying to the American People repeatedly, Suing whole states, and passing laws the Majority of people do not want.

I had more respect for the man as a Candidate than I do now.

He seemed like a logical, Centrist guy as a candidate, and turned into a rabid Ideologue once elected.

Sorry I have no respect for that.

You want to know something that I find as funny? Everyone is saying "respect is earned" in this thread and I have always been taught differently. Respect is lost. You respect your elders... until they do something that causes you to lose respect for them. In the same way, you respect the President of the United States until he does something to lose that respect. You respect a police officer until he/she does something to lose that respect. I respect posters that come on here and state their points of view... until they lose that respect.

Respect is not "earned". Respect is lost.

I have to disagree with all of those that say, "Respect is earned". Respect is not earned it is cast away by those who have lost their right to be respected. IMHO!!

Well in that case, Obama lost my respect shortly after he started actually governing.

That is more like it and I have to say, "Ditto".

Obama lost my respect with the Joe the Plumber thing.

He was running as a somewhat moderate, but when he told Joe he liked the idea of spreading the wealth, and then the Vicious ATTACKS came from the Progressives-Commie against Joe, I saw the man for what he REALLY was all about.

A Liar and a radical

The lamestream media parroting all the "socialism" accusations just proves they are bought off and rely on spin, not facts, to somehow validate the new gap between the the ultra rich and the working poor as some kind of free market dymanics, rather than the abuse of power it really is.

There is no country without democratic principles of a free press and fair elections, of which we have neither.

Who on earth says that Limbaugh is not a hypocrite?

Immie

Me.

I don't think Limbaugh is a hypocrite. It's not hypocritical to be biased. Everyone is biased.

Yes, Limbaugh is biased. So is Oprah.

Neither of their biases make them hypocrites.

You forget that Limbaugh said all drug addicts should be put in jail (or something similar to that) all the while he was addicted to drugs and purchasing them illegally? :eusa_shhh:

That would be my definition of Hypocrisy.

By the way, I was not taking the position that Oprah was hypocritical in this instance. My first post in the thread asked if she had ever disrespected President Bush. If she had, then I would say she is being hypocritical. ;)

Ok, the drug thing, that was hypocritical.

I just think the word "hypocrite" is thrown around constantly, by people on both sides, without actually paying attention to what the word means - similar to "socialism" and "neo-con" and "racist".

I think all of us can be called "hypocrites" for some of our positions. I don't think any of us are exempt from that title in some regards.

As I said, I do not watch Oprah... I may be the only person on earth that doesn't watch Oprah... whether or not Oprah is a hypocrite in this case depends upon her treatment of President Bush during his two terms.

Who is it Oprah is 'accusing' of not being respectful of the President.
Conservatives, independents....tea party supporters...?
I wonder why this kind of public calling out for respect was not ever even considered when
liberals called for the death of Pres. Bush. The utter condemnation of President Bush was disgraceful at best.
President Obama showed a lack of respect for constituents, the people he serves and works for.....by telling them to sit at the back of the bus....his administration calling conservatives and or tea party supporters angry thugs and astro turf. Where was President Obama's respect for business when he told bankers that he's all that stands between them and the pitchforks or accusing the Chamber of Commerce of unfounded lies and distortions.
