I remember when John McCain was laughed at for saying he knew how to fix the economy and he would if he were elected president.

Donald Trump built a bleak and dark picture of an America that thankfully doesn't exist. Unless he is elected president.

It was an hour and a half of this:

Terrorists are pouring into our country. They are everywhere. In your backyard, on every street corner and they want to kill you. And Mexican rapist drug dealers are pouring in from across the border who want your jobs and they want to kill you. The infrastructure is falling apart. The bridges are falling down. The roads are falling apart and the sky is falling. Police are being shot everywhere and there is no law no order. The bodies of dead Americans are piling up everywhere killed by terrorists and Obamacare.
But don't worry. I know how to fix everything. Elect me and I will fix everything. I will cut taxes and pour money into everything and fix it.

And every word of it screamed at the top of his voice.

So the camera is moving around the hall and people are asked what they thought of Trump's speech and they reply, "It's exactly what I wanted to hear" "It's what is going on in this country". "Donald Trump will save us".

I don't live in this America.

I'm rather bemused by the liberal talking point now being put forth about how "safe" the country really is! Wasn't it last week that you folks were bemoaning how dangerous the country was because of all the guns that were out there? I pray that with the Senate in Mitch McConnell's hands the SCOTUS will shrink to 7 with the old age senile death or retirement of Ginsberg, who is without a doubt the worst SCOTUS justice in the history of the Earth including Paleolithic times. Then and only then will we be back to a fairly divided court with Kennedy as the swing voter.

But it will take a miracle from God to keep the Senate that way.

So yes, you have no problem with the Senate
deliberately blocking court nominations for purely partisan reasons.

This attitude is exactly what's wrong with our system. Just because your party can't win a general election in no way invalidates the president's obligation to appoint judges.
Sour grapes is not an adequate excuse to usurp the constitution and furtherdamage our democracy.

When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in our flag, carrying a cross and instilling fear in the people. We once were a home of the brave, it seems that no longer is true, at least in the throngs of Trumperters who live in fear and feel the need to carry a gun to the grocery store and hate others they do not know.

The Supreme Court has been ruled by a Conservative, yet activist, power elite for over a decade, since the appointment of Thomas and Alito we have seen a court dominated by 5-4 decisions based on ideology sans (IMO) common sense. It's past time for us to realize our nation needs to see the world as it is, not as we hope to remake it, and reason not supernatural belief in a God or charlatans who pretend to know the unknowable should no longer color policy.

That is not to suggest that morality is not a factor in the development of law, for it surely is. But the ethos of the current Conservative Crowd is far and away from the Christian ethos which now control too many American's, who buy the rhetoric of the men & women behind the curtain or clothed in the robes of the power elite.

You not only need a gun to go anywhere safely you need 2 guns -- a carbine and a pistol as a backup.

Unless you figure that out fast you are going to end up dead in a pool of your own blood someday soon.

Roberts, Kennedy, Alito, Thomas, and Alito protected that right.

Ginsberg, Breyer, and Sotomayor did not and Kagan probably will not.

If you end up dead in a pool of your own blood then it does not matter what your politics are.

There are three schools of thought on gun control. Your's is an example of the paranoid type. The other two are the pragmatic type and the goofy type.

I'm pragmatic, Guns are part of the American heritage and are rightfully owned, possessed or in the custody and control of sane, sober and law abiding individuals.

How do we know who is sane, sober and law abiding? By licensing individuals whose background suggests they are, and by registering their gun(s). Why licensing and registration? Because a license can be revoked, and guns can be taken either temporarily or permanently for cause.

The goofy type are those who believe all guns should be removed from civilian hands. First of all that is highly unlikely given the amount of guns in America. The goofy type also is a subset of the paranoid type, those who actually believe the government wants to confiscate all the guns in America.

Why not?? And why nine? Why not thirteen, signifying each stripe on the flag? And why not a reasonable term limit to get those going senile off before too late?

Nine is the number. The president decides who to nominate. Not agreeing with who gets elected is not reason enough to usurp the process.
