On this 4th of July....Don't forget to thank a liberal

Imagine a world where a certain class was born to rule over those who were born to lower classes
Your position in society was based on your birth, not what you accomplish after your birth

The liberals of the day stood up and declared.......All men are created equal

They created a country where the lowest farm hand had the same vote as the richest land owner

Thank a liberal

You're funny, timmy. you should have lassie post for you.

Only PROPERTY OWNERS could vote when this land became a country.
U.S. Voting Rights
Very true

They expanded it to all men within twenty years...still our liberal founders doing it

Including the half that decided to start the republican party.

Go away, little boy,

play fetch with your doggie til school starts.

then do your best to get an education.
The Republican Party was started entirely by liberals

They share none of the values of their founding members

Exactly. 150 years ago the home of Liberals was the RP, which believed (at the time) in exercising the true spirit of "all men are created equal" to its logical conclusion. It was also the party of "big government", part of which was bringing about the first affirmative action in land grants to ex-slaves. That all turned an about-face when the century turned, with the RP taking on the interests of the rich and corporations and the DP taking on the Populist movement. That's why it's hilarious to find wags on here playing as if political parties are some kind of static immovable ideology, and then when they find out differently crow "get an education".. Ironic.

The Republican party was formed as a anti-slavery party, your Democrats were for slavery and still are! by their legislation!
Which is no where near a logical conclusion..considering Lincoln had a democratic vice-president, and there were democrats in the North, just like there was repubs in the south..There was no clear demarcation of political party affiliations at the Mason-Dickson line...

What ever you do, don't tell them that the KKK is populated by republicans now....

Just liberals......conservatives refused to sign
You do realize that none of the conservative veterans who actually fought the war on the front lines and saved Franklin's neck from the gallows were invited to the signing, right?

We are talking 1776

There were no veterans

Indians wars, but we know, you have no idea!
They were British veterans, but not US veterans...

Would you consider members of the Sons of Liberty, the group that dumped the tea in Boston, veterans?

Because John Hancock was a member of that group

Let's thank STATISM for the government take over in the mid 1800's of education from local communities and families, and for the idea of government compulsory education. No child left behind, Head start, and Common Core, everything the corporate state needs to make obedient human resources and servile subjects. So much for sovereign citizens that can understand the true meaning and value of the fourth of July though. Real Liberalism? It died a long long time ago though. While folks argued about trivial stuff like who could and couldn't get married, important shit, like international trade deals, w/o your say so, slipped right on through w/o any notice. Fools.

I see you was suckered into believing satire for reality..

Republicans supported human rights
Wanted a strong Federal Government
Were opposed by States Rights groups

Nothing like what Republicans have sunk to today

Our founders were the greatest liberal thinkers of their day

The concept of the equality of man was a breakthrough in history

Indeed it was although they stood on the shoulders of those who had fought and died for our freedoms going back many centuries.

Magna Carta Inspiration for America s Founding Fathers to Visit Museum of Fine Arts Boston Museum of Fine Arts Boston

It was the Magna Carta that inspired them to go from the conservative concept of being governed by a monarch to the liberal concept of governance by We the People.

That liberal breakthrough is the legacy they gave us and which we still build on today.

There is even more to be thankful for this 4th of July since we now have Equality for gays and Healthcare for all.

There are still 30 million Americans that do not have health insurance.

It was almost 50 million before Obamacare.

That number will continue to decrease as time goes on.

7 Million Lose Health Insurance Under 'Obamacare'

What was to be a $2500 per year savings has grown into AT LEAST a $2500 a year INCREASE!

Insurance has always gone up, and always will. The rate of increase has dropped drastically since Obamacare was enacted, It won't be that long before that $2500 difference between what it costs and what it would have cost is achieved. Nobody said it would happen over night.
