On the wrong side, again, in Egypt

The Egyptian people obviously feel otherwise. The majority of them have decided against Muslim Brotherhood ruling over Egypt and are demanding that the Muslim Brotherhood be kept out of the next elections. I think that is a good idea. Obama supported the Muslim Brotherhood, is helping Hillary Clintons Muslim Brotherhood connected assistant - Abedin and her husband Wiener to win in NY. Abedin's mother is tied to terrorist organization - Muslim brotherhood as are her brothers and her father who is now deceased. Obama was most definitely on the wrong side of this one. AGAIN.

Will Wiener win? I believe it is impossible he won't. The fix is in. This WH is all in for the MB whether Russia, China, Iran or anyone else doesn't like it - USA is officially backing terrorist organizations over nations these days. What a mess, eh?

Serious question...are you on medication? That is one paranoid rant...

Where is the paranoia? I'm stating facts here. The FBI has had documented evidence that Abedins Egyptian family were tied to the Muslim Brotherhood for quite some time now. Where have you been hiding? As to the friendship between Obama and the terrorist Organization Muslim Brotherhood have a look at who is inside the White House these days. As to the Egyptians turning on Obama, it was all over the news yesterday, open your eyes, dear.

As to the fix being in for Wiener to win NY? It's a done deal. Wait and see. As to medications, I don't need them but you may want to stay open to the idea. You'll need something when reality smacks you in the face. - J.

Hitlery Clinton, the secretary of State in the SCOAMF's first term, described the Egypt aid process during a September 2011 visit to Cairo that took place after Mubarak’s resignation.....

"We believe in aid to your military without any conditions, no conditionality,” Clinton said. "I’ve made that very clear. I was with the foreign minister, Mr. Amr, yesterday, and was very clear in saying that the Obama administration, and I personally am against that. I think it’s not appropriate."

In March 2012, Clinton waived restrictions passed by Congress on aid to Egypt “on the basis of America’s national-security interests.” That decision came in the midst of the Egyptian government’s crackdown on foreign NGOs, which included the raiding of the offices of several American organizations, including the National Democratic Institute, the International Republican Institute, and Freedom House.

In April of this year, Kerry again waived all congressional restrictions on aid to Egypt, but did so secretly and without any explanation. The State Department later explained that aid to Egypt’s military was necessary because of U.S.-Egyptian cooperation on things like counterterrorism.

Five senators in March proposed changes to the way the U.S. gives aid to Egypt in the hopes of using the aid to pressure Morsi to improve his record on democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. But the Obama administration, led by Kerry and U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson, fought those changes, and none was ever passed into law.

That same month Kerry delivered to Morsi an additional $190 million of U.S. aid based on Morsi’s pledge to implement economic reforms, part of a $1 billion debt-relief package Obama pledged to Morsi.

uber-douche ambassdor Patterson criticized the preparations for their protests in public remarks, saying, “My government and I are deeply skeptical" of the protests, which she suggested would lead to “more violence on the streets.”

Patterson has been the Obama administration’s key interlocutor with Morsi. One senior Arab government official who watches Egypt closely said Patterson had access to the highest levels of the White House, access many other ambassadors in Arab capitals did not enjoy.

You gotta be some kind of stupid to repeat the lie that obama didn't back the Jihadist Morsi.

But..... We are talking dimocraps here

I don't remember seeming any screaming headlines in our part of the universe over what Morsi and and MB were doing to the Egyptian people.

Morsi blatantly lied when he said he would form a secular government and not an Islamic theocracy. And he let the MB murder people.

Here's a great timeline.

TWO YEARS OF TURMOIL AND TRANSITION: TIMELINE OF EVENTS

Key events from when the Arab Spring began to the current protests:

Jan. 25-Feb. 11, 2011 - Egyptians stage nationwide demonstrations against the rule of autocrat Hosni Mubarak, who led the country for nearly three decades.

The 18-day 'revolution,' launched by secular and leftist youth, draws in a wide spectrum, including the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists. Hundreds of protesters are killed as Mubarak and his allies try to crush the uprising.

Feb. 11 - Mubarak steps down and turns power over to the military. Two days later, the body of top generals, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, dissolves parliament and suspends the constitution, meeting two key demands of protesters.

June 16-17 - Egyptians vote in the presidential runoff between Morsi and Shafiq. The generals issue a 'constitutional declaration' giving themselves sweeping authorities and limiting the powers of the next president. Morsi emerges as the victor, with 51.7 percent of the vote.

June 30 - Morsi takes his formal oath of office before the Supreme Constitutional Court, a day after reading a symbolic oath in Cairo's Tahrir Square, birthplace of the revolution.

Aug. 12 - In a bold move, Morsi orders the retirement of the top Mubarak-era leadership of the military and cancels the military's last constitutional decree, taking back the powers that the generals gave themselves. The move was seen as way to curb the military's role in political affairs but it also gave Morsi the power to legislate in the absence of parliament.

Nov. 22 - ****Morsi unilaterally decrees greater authorities for himself, giving his decisions immunity from judicial review and barring the courts from dissolving the constituent assembly and the upper house of parliament. The move came just ahead of court decisions that could have dissolved the bodies. The move sparks days of protests, with clashes between Morsi's supporters and opponents. At one point, some 200,000 people rally in Tahrir Square, with some of the first chants for Morsi to 'leave.'

Dec. 4 - More than 100,000 protesters march on the presidential palace, demanding the cancellation of the referendum and the writing of a new constitution.

The next day, Islamists attack a peaceful anti-Morsi sit-in outside the palace, sparking all-out street battles that leave at least 10 dead. Days later, Morsi rescinds his initial decrees, but maintains the date of the referendum.

Jan. 25, 2013 - Hundreds of thousands hold protests in Tahrir Square and nationwide against Morsi on the 2-year anniversary of the start of the revolt against Mubarak, and clashes erupt in many places.

Jan. 26 - Residents of the city of Port Said stage protests, angered by a court ruling convicting and sentencing to death a group of local soccer fans for a 2012 stadium riot. Police crack down hard in Port Said, killing more than 40 protesters, and in outrage the city and others nearby go into near revolt. Much of the anger is focused at Morsi, who praised the police for their crackdown.

Feb.-March - Protests continue in Port Said and other cities for weeks, with dozens more dying in clashes, and some police units around the country go on strike. Brotherhood youth and their opponents fight in the streets outside the group's main Cairo headquarters.

June 23 - A mob beats to death four Egyptian Shiites in their home in a village on the edge of Cairo. Morsi condemns the attack, but critics blame virulent anti-Shiite rhetoric by his hard-line Islamist allies, fueled by Syria's civil war. A week earlier, Morsi shared a stage with hard-line clerics at a rally, sitting silently as they denounced Shiites as 'filthy.'

June 30 -- Millions of Egyptians take to the streets in Cairo and other cities calling for Morsi to step down in a massive display of anger and frustration with the Islamist leader. The demonstrations are largely peaceful, although 16 people, half of them in clashes outside the Muslim Brotherhood's Cairo headquarters, are killed in protest-related violence nationwide. Organisers vow to keep up the protests until Morsi resigns.

July 1 - Demonstrations continue and Egypt's military issues an ultimatum for the two sides to come to a resolution within 48 hours or it will impose its own solution.#

July 2 - A night of clashes outside Cairo University sees at least 16 people killed, with unofficial sources saying that more than 23 people died.

July 3 - Egyptian media reports that President Morsi will either be sacked or forced to stand down as the army's deadline for a resolution approaches.

July 3, 6pm - The head of the Egyptian army, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi declares on national TV that Morsi has been ousted from power, prompting a wave of celebrations across the country.

July 4 - Judge in Egypt's supreme court, Adly Mansour, sworn in as interim president in Cairo.

Good summary.

Muslim Brotherhood = rape, violence, murder, tyrannical government, dictatorships..........

Check out who Morsi had appointed to an extremely important position. I don't give a flying rats ass if this man says he's renounced terrorism.

That boat doesn't float. Worth checking out this article.

Headline:

Egypt appoints member of terror group that once massacred tourists to run tourism region

By Max Fisher, Published: June 18, 2013 at 3:46 pmE-mail the writer

It was only 16 years ago, in 1997, that members of an Egyptian militant group called Gamaa Islamiya stormed the ancient Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor, a tourism magnet, and massacred 62 tourists before killing themselves, part of their insurgent campaign against the government.

This week, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi swore in Adel Mohamed al-Khayat, a former leader of Gamaa Islamiya and now a member of its political arm, as the new governor of Luxor governorate.

And this (and I know I wouldn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing this man was in charge of this tourist area)

The growing political influence of Islamism in Egypt, both moderate and not, is a trend larger than just Khayat or his group.

It would hardly be fair to blame Morsi for Gamaa Islamiya’s long-standing base of support in some rural area of Egypt. But his decision to appoint Khayat, whose group is best known for terrifying foreigners into avoiding Egyptian tourism sites, to the job of running Luxor is baffling.

The region is known as a major, international tourist draw, making it not just a source of Egyptian pride but of increasingly crucial and scarce tourism revenue.

We have a President who is continually making MAJOR National Security and foreign policy mistakes.. This is what happens when people elect a glorified community organizer. How much more embarrassment do we have to withstand in having a literal ASSCLOWN as President of the United States?

On the wrong side, again, in Egypt

As of this morning, the moron hasn't said a word about the events in Cairo. He's the most timid, feminine, utterly stupid president we've ever had. He has no idea what to do and doesn't trust his advisors to decide for him. He listens to all their veiwpoints, quizzes them endlessly, gets them after each other, then excuses himself to either go golfing or up to be bossed around by Moochelle. How we're supposed to function as a country is up to us. Yet if we do something for ourselves we'll be spied on, rousted by the FBI or IRS, and threated with being left broke and in jail. Thanks for nothing you lib assholes. :doubt:

It's quite entertaining to see the resident inmates flailing around like decapitated chickens trying to find the anti-Obama angle in all this.

The recent events in Egypt only serve to underscore just how superior a choice Obama was in 2008 and again in 2012.

Thank you, Mr. President.

LOL!!! This article is about giving aid to the Egyptian MILITARY!!! Who just took down the MB?!?! :cuckoo:

Oh kiss my ass. Too funny!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell me you aren't trying to claim that Obama's aid to Egypt now got Morsi removed from power? And that you want to give him credit for this?

Obama's bitch with the Muslim Brotherhood?

Didn't you read all the articles where Obama was pleading that the military not remove Morsi from office?

And not only are they pissed off at Obama, but the Ambassador really ticked the Egyptians clean freaking off.

And you lunatics on the left are praising Obama for the complete FUBAR'd foreign policies that he has.

:lmao:

From USA today (oh and be sure to note the idiot Ambassador's speech saying protests don't work.

Aye carumba! Stupid stupid woman. Actually saying this to the people who brought down Mubarak.

" that she and the U.S. government are "deeply skeptical" that "street action will produce better results than elections."

From the article;

The belief that Obama has backed Morsi is obvious at Tahrir Square, just one meeting place for Morsi opponents who flooded the streets over the past four days, demanding his resignation and calling for new elections.

"We really feel so bad because of Obama," said Adly Hassan, 60. "He supports Morsi and the Egyptian people are really upset."

U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson is also drawing ire in the square, where posters feature a huge red "X" over her face.

In the lead-up to massive demonstrations that kicked off June 30, Patterson gave a speech that intensified anger at Washington, analysts said. Patterson said she sought "to set the record straight" and that she and the U.S. government are "deeply skeptical" that "street action will produce better results than elections."

"Egypt needs stability to get its economic house in order, and more violence on the streets will do little more than add new names to the lists of martyrs," she said in a June 18 speech.

"Instead, I recommend Egyptians get organized. Join or start a political party that reflects your values and aspirations. Egyptians need to know a better path forward."

Obama is calling for a review on the aid. He really didn't like Morsi being taken out. And in his statement he actually had the balls to demand that Morsi nor any of his supporters in the MB be arrested.

Give me a break. What nerve.

President Obama called for a review of U.S. assistance to Egypt in the aftermath of Mohammed Morsi's ouster and urged the Egyptian military to quickly restore power back to the people.

In a statement released by the White House hours after Egypt's military leaders declared an end to Morsi's term and suspended the constitution, the president said he is "deeply concerned" by the army's actions.

"Given today's developments, I have also directed the relevant departments and agencies to review the implications under U.S. law for our assistance to the Government of Egypt," the statement said.

Bush was an idiot also, now what??????? LOL You're nothing more than a ZOMBIE.. a rather stoooopid one, but a Zombie no less.

The level of anti-Americanism around the world has decreased markedly, and the no 1 reason is the absence of a Republican as President.
The GOP's bellicose foreign policy was a disaster for the US and the world. The palpable sense of relief felt globally when Mitt lost was a great moment.

Things aren't perfect around the world, but they never would be. They could be worse though, and a President McCain or Romney would have seen to that with their aggressive cowboy foreign policy.

Bwhahahaahahaha LMFAO!!! You're really a tool.. I mean you're completely divorced from reality. Everything you've said is an absolute lie and I've proven it.

You're a useless DOPE.

Another conservative who has conveniently forgotten just how awful everything was during the Bushtarded Era.

No wonder the GOP decided to try and pretend Bush was never President during their convention in 2012. Conservatives have deluded themselves into thinking that Bush wasn't that bad of a President. It's not the voters's fault that they disagree with conservatives on this. It's the fault of conservatives.

No. You are wrong the 1.3 billion in military aid was directed to go to Morsi and the military under the muslim brotherhood. Now that the military removed Morsi US law prohibits military aid going to that country's military at all. obama has assured the muslim brotherhood that he will work on their behalf and has gone so far as to say that any government created must include the brotherhood.

Egypt's next step really should be to revoke the visas given to the entire embassy staff.

It should be apparent to anyone with an ounce of brains, in most of these Mideastern and North African nations, there really is no right side.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization. NO ONE SHOULD BE RESPECTING THAT SCUM.

They also won a valid and fair election.

You know, you can't all insist that the Middle East will be so much better if they just got themselves some democracy, and then whine when make decisions we don't like.

Of course, we could do the breathetakingly rational thing of just keeping out of that mess altogether.

The only reason why we care about Egypt is because they are the only government that has signed a peace treaty with Israel. And we pay them nearly 3 billion a year to play nice.

totally wrong. What is it with you and the Bush-hate? Sure, Bush made mistakes. What president has not made mistakes?

Exactly how was "everything awful" during the Bush years? be specific, "everything awful" is what you said.

But if you are determined to blame one party for the fiscal mess in the country, you better check into which party has controlled congress for most of the last 80 years---hint, its not the GOP.

Whether the egyptian election was valid and fair is questionable. But the fact remains that Obama backed the muslim brotherhood and now the egyptian people have kicked the MB out of power--------OBAMA BACKED THE WRONG GUY. face it, obama backed the wrong people in Lybia and is backing the wrong ones in Syria. his foreign policy is a joke.

Either he is really stupid or he wants radical islam to rule the mid east---which is it?

Maybe he's just doing it to piss you off.

It seems to me that he has no more luck controlling the politics of the MIddle East than any other American president has. They are going to do what they want regardless.

Morsi is gone because he couldn't fix the problems.
