Many of us have talked about the slippery slope of gay marriage, and how redefining marriage for homosexuals would allow the redefinition to fit any other marital situations we could think of. To that end, I propose the following:
1. Nationalize divorce laws (since we're nationalizing everything else), and restrict divorce to situations involving Adultery, Abuse, or Abandonment.
2. Allow everyone to have only one spouse, but as many concubines (male or female) as they wanted. Concubines would be "married" in the sense that people are married today; either party could break the contract at any time, but while "married," a concubine shares all the rights and responsibilities of the married couple.
3. You have to have a spouse to have a concubine.
What do you think? Yes? No? Plausible?
