My husband is starting a soccer aerobics program. He's looking for older rap or hip hop songs that are appropriate for an 8-year-old girl to hear. NO explicit lyrics. So, what are some good ones?

I trust that's a rhetorical question, yes?

Old Skewl?

Thanks for the link Said1 but that's not quite what I'm looking for... and yes old school rap can be kid friendly...

Looking for songs along the lines of Ice Ice Baby, Rapper's Delight, Five Minutes of Funk - fun songs that are easy to move to.

I don't think they're gonna like it if I bust out the techno music...

For example, I played Wild Wild West (Will Smith) for my daughter on the way home and she said it would be fun to use that...

I need to build a decent collection so I don't have to use the same songs each practice

Thanks!

There must be a compilation of the above for sale somewhere on the internet.

You could always download.

What? That's not "hip"? Oh well :dunno: I tried.
If you listen to it, Ice Ice baby isn't exactly kiddy material.
Unless you want your kids rollin to "skewl" with their 9's.

There isn't much old skewl kid friendly rap out there.

Sugar Hill Gang - Apache
The 45 King - The 900 Number
House of Pain - Jump Around
Any C&C Music Factory :)laugh:)
Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock - It Takes Two
Positive K - I Got a Man
De La Soul - Me Myself and I
Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force - Planet Rock
Herbie Hancock - Rockit

You could also dial up old Parliament/George Clinton or Stevie Wonder, or even old Michael Jackson (Thriller and before)

I can try and think of more if you're interested...

That's exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for... Forgot all about Rapture, I remember that from childhood... stuff like that with a fast beat... Rapper's Delight is already on the list!

C&C (Make You Sweat)
