Oh Noez! Polar Bears to be Extinct in 80 Years

Excellent! A real source. Did it hurt?

Strange that there was no mention of any stranded dying and dead sea lions filled with radiation.
You could have searched and found it just as easy dickwad.

Haven't seen any stories from real sources. Have you?
I consider Natural News a "real source" and if I question anything I take the time to research an issue myself. I suggest you do the same.

Are you completely ignoring my posts and asking questions anyway? C'mon jc. At least read the post first. I'm not insisting on the link.
Not at all. It seems you think polar bears need ice to exist. Yet they survive. I’m sure any undernourished bear breeds would have those issues. So I’m curious to know why you think polars are different than any other breed
I'm not saying every polar bear on earth will be dead in eighty years. The warming temps in the arctic which are melting their primary hunting habitat will certainly take its toll on them, though, unless they're smart enough to hike north.
what warming temps in the arctic are you referring to?

The ones off the shore of southern Alaska, which this map has nothing to do with. Also, how come all kinds of mineral exploration is happening in Greenland right now if the ice hasn't melted and made accessible rock that has been covered for ever?
About dern time it has. Isnt that ice sheet like half a million years old?
Wonder what we will find under that ice?
RUBIES! Saw a show on Discovery or something a few years ago.

Yeah, like I said, moron.

Hotter seas threaten marine wildlife with extinction - researchers

View attachment 192305

LONDON, May 7 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Polar bears and other iconic animals could be extinct by the end of the century if ocean temperatures continue to rise at the current rate, marine biologists warned Monday.

So.

Why would they die in just a few generations? Fish and seals are there for food. Polar bears have been living in the San Diego zoo for decades, so warmth doesn’t harm them. The oceans are rising so that warmth is well hidden. So what’s going to kill them?

The absurdity of the chicken little left in their doomsday predictions is hilarious. They’ve been making this prediction for decades only to find their population increasing.

30 years ago there was 8000 Polar Bears.
Now there's only 25,000 left.
dude, that signature is hysterical. :777::auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg:

Oceans were much warmer 10,000 to 1,000 years ago, yet the Polar Bears are still here.

Pacific Ocean Heat Content During the Past 10,000 Years

"Abstract
Observed increases in ocean heat content (OHC) and temperature are robust indicators of global warming during the past several decades. We used high-resolution proxy records from sediment cores to extend these observations in the Pacific 10,000 years beyond the instrumental record. We show that water masses linked to North Pacific and Antarctic intermediate waters were warmer by 2.1 ± 0.4°C and 1.5 ± 0.4°C, respectively, during the middle Holocene Thermal Maximum than over the past century. Both water masses were ~0.9°C warmer during the Medieval Warm period than during the Little Ice Age and ~0.65° warmer than in recent decades. Although documented changes in global surface temperatures during the Holocene and Common era are relatively small, the concomitant changes in OHC are large."

Doesn't it have to do with the ice floes melting? That's where the bears do their "fishing," I think.

Nope. Polar bears were almost driven to extinction though through over hunting. The Marine Mammal Treaty of the 1970's saved them. Now they are everywhere.

that can't possibly be!!!! Old woman is never wrong.

Yes, hunting. Modern technology gave hunters easy access to polar bears that they had never had. Now, the only way that polar bears can be hunted is the old ways that the Inuit use, traditional weapons, and non motor powered boats.

In the past, unregulated commercial and sport hunting posed the gravest threat to the polar bear’s future.
International regulations and careful management have eased that challenge, although vigilance is needed to make sure hunts remain sustainable as we head into a less stable future. Poaching in Russia and human-to-polar-bear interaction across the Arctic remain potential threats.

Overharvesting - Polar Bears International

Wasn't it several years ago, scientists were saying the Polar Bears were going extinct because of overfishing, human encroachment/loss of habitat, overhunting???

Yep. But do we pay attention?

Hell no.

I remember Cousteau saying we needed to clean up our filth. We've known this for a long time but its our (and your) kids and grand kids who will suffer.

All so the willfully ignorant can embrace stupidity.

Hint: if you're not part of the 1%, if you're not leaving that to your kids, they're screwed.

BINGO!

The idiots refuse to avail themselves of "real sources" and instead suck up info wars, Brietart, fox. Why can't they find their way to google dot com and educate themselves?

And I've read of super planets that are all gold or all diamonds.

How 'bout we send the worst polluters hunting for those? I'd even be willing to let them keep all they find.

"The traditional subsistence hunting of the polar bear was on a small enough scale to not significantly effect the populations of the polar bears."

Polar Bear Hunting - A look at the history of polar bear hunting

As to the adoption of modern methods, I agree the literature shows that to have been a threat to their population. Now, however, it is the loss of ice.

As usual you forgot the part about Polar Bear populations being over 25,000 these days.

Summer ice cover levels are largely irrelevant to the Polar Bear dietary habits, since they get most of the calories for year in the April -June time frame, where Ice cover is still significant.

I agree, only idiots believe radioactive sea lions are washing up in California.

If that were true there would be a loss of polar bear population. There isn't. We know for certain that the Arctic has been ice free at least four times while polar bears have been in existence so the claim that loss of sea ice will wipe them out is likewise not an issue.
