October Non-Surprise: Unemployment at 10%, Gallup!

This isn't a surprise to me. This Administration has consistently lied about the Unemployment Rate. The real Unemployment Rate is much much higher than their 9.6% number. It's all lies coming from this Administration. They've been cooking the books since day one. The real Unemployment Rate is well up into double digits. Look for them to claim the rate is going down right before November 2nd. Desperate times for the Democrats. Make 2010 count people.

So your theory is, Obama is fiddling the books at BLS? Is he also fiddling them at Gallop? Lay off the paranoia bullshit, LibocalypseNow.

I don't blame Obama specifically for the under reporting of unemployed. All people under retirement age and not disabled without a job should be included in the unemplyment numbers in my opinion.

It does not matter so much to me who's in and who's out; what matters more is that they use the same measuring stick over time so I can see trends. I think everyone understands the numbers are an estimate and 10% is seriously bad.

Okie dokie, then may I hear which Tea Party candidate has a plan for economic recovery, apart from "get government out of business' way"? If that phrase is not meant to reference deregulation, then what? Is it just bullshit sloganeering?

Your inability to understand that phrase is why I mentioned your apparent lack of business ownership experience. Since you seem unable to 'get it" on your own, accept the example of government getting IN the way of business.

The healthcare bill contains a provision that demands that businesses now must file a 1099 form to any person or business that they purchase $600.00 worth of good or services from each year. That requirement is a fucking nightmare for businesses, especially small businesses, to try to meet. And what makes it worse is that the IRS does not even have the resources to track and correlate the millions of 1099's that must now be filed. It was a stupid provision that most of the morons that voted for Obamacare now claim they didn't know was in there.

Does that make it more clear for you?

I agree, that provision is burdensome and pointless, Vel. So your thought is, eliminate unduly burdensome regulations and laws applicable to business? Who could argue with that?

Especially for small businesses; what the line between small and not-small should be is almost immaterial, but small businesses should have a lower compliance cost if possible. Which Tea Party candidate do you think espouses this and how do they plan to carry out that initiative?

Do you think such an effort all by itself will bring about economic recovery? And if not, what other steps do you support?

Madeline.. I have no concern for Tea Party candidates. To the best of my knowledge, there is no Tea Party political party. You are the one that seems consumed with the Tea Party movement. And yes, supporting an effort to make doing business in the United States easier and less costly will certainly help bring about economic recovery.
As to which candidates do I support? I don't know the positions of all the candidates running in the country right now, but I'm of the opinion that anyone running against a current incumbent that voted FOR Obamacare without knowing what was in the bill, is probably a better choice than the incumbent. Those that would vote for a bill and then tell us they didn't know that provision was there are derelict in their job duty and need to be fired.

This Administration is still lying about the Unemployment Rate. It is much much higher than their reported 9.6% number. I stand by my belief in this. In fact i fully expect them to claim the Unemployment Rate is going down right before Election Day on Nov. 2nd. You're being lied to people. Wake up. Get out and vote. Time to show the Democrats the door.

Lower compliance cost?

How about GET RID OF THE FREAKING COMPLIANCE COSTS?????????

Never occured to you did it?

I think we'll have to wait and see what actually happens. The young people I know are very interested in affordable health insurance, saveliberty.

Really? So why is it so many recent grads go without health insurance but buy a car or rent an apartment? They are playing odds, of course they don't think that, but indeed is what they are doing. They are waiting for that full time job, with benefits. Of course, now they only have to wait for Uncle Sam.

Young people do that because at present, the cost of individual coverage for a healthy young adult in my area is about $1,000 a month. If it were instead, say, $400, fewer would roll the dice.

1000 A MONTH?????????? :wtf:

Where in the hell do you live?

I think that was some cadillac plan for kids. She 'thanked' me for my post about $95 a month, major medical, $500 deductible plans for young adults. I do think she got that.

Thankfully most recent college/high school grads are healthy. If non-smoking, non-drinking, major medical is not expensive. Still, they opt out, for buying cars, video games, clothes, and dates. Go figure!

Really? My son was offered major medical coverage for less than $95 a month, with $500 deductible. He could have afforded it, chose not to. Same with all of his friends, ALL OF THEM. They are now all insured, through employers. Yes, it took 6-12 months, but all now have full time jobs. They've all had new cars from 3 weeks after graduation, off of part time jobs. Choices, choices.

I mean yeah! Once upon a time (22 years ago) I was a reasonably healthy single adult, and I didn't even pay that.

I know it's gone up, but I don't believe for a MINUTE it's a thousand bucks worth of gone up!

Hell, $95 a month is about what we were paying for family coverage when my husband and I had the youngest.

I know it's gone up since then, but I KNOW it isn't a thousand. We put only two thousand in the medical savings account for the year to cover prescriptions for the year, and we are still covering the college age kid!

1000 a month? Where does Madelbrain live? MARS??? :wtf:

Can you link me to these new "affordable" rates? Last I heard, Congress and the President expected the rates to continue up, just at a slower rate.

No, I cannot. Try asking Greenbeard; he's very well versed in insurance rates issues.

In other words you are talking out your ass. What a big surprise!

A thousand bucks a month for a single adult!

He was 22 when out of college. Ran cross country, only health issue was 'sports induced asthma', meaning an inhaler needed immediately after race, to avoid vomiting and dry heaves, (non-life threatening).

For $95 a month, he'd have to pay for doctor visits, meds, etc. BUT, if the worst happened and needed hospitalization and perhaps cancer treatments, or etc., he'd have been covered. He opted out. I was upset, but he did get full time job in 9 months.

BTW, he never did go to doctor or hospital. His gamble worked.

Who offered insurance at $95 a month? That's a fire sale price. It is regrettable your son didn't make better choices, Annie.....my kid would have, and so would her friends. Mebbe it's a boy thing.

BTW, happy to hear all the kids you love now have FT jobs....that's a rare feat these days. Your son must be very on the ball in at least some important ways.

Oh bullshit! We are paying around $400 a month and that covers four people including one kid in college and we aren't all healthy!!

That sounds pretty damn average!

A thousand bucks a month!

That has to be the Cadillac plan for a Kennedy or something.

I mean my hubby and I pay between 400-500 something like that with around two thousand in the medical savings account, and we have pretty damn good coverage! I mean it's not the health care the Congress gets, but we can't complain.

But a 1000 a month for a single adult????? Hell I don't remember what I paid for insurance 22 years ago, but I know damn well it was under 100!

Hell! When hubby and I had the first kid we were paying $95 a month through OSU (where I worked at the time) for insurance and thought that was just a BITCH!:lol::lol: Dumb kids that we were. (Dumb as hell, hindsight is always 20/20! :D )

We didn't know how good we had it! ;)

Ah! Youth! :lol::lol::lol:

Cleveland...Obama just visited there to save the State for Statist Democrats...

Well, I live in Ohio too and I can tell you, that 1000 bucks a month for insurance for single adult is some big pile of bullshit.

Anyone stupid enough to pay that for insurance deserves it!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Socialist/Progressive Dummies really should just stay quiet on adult issues that require some common sense and critical thinking skills. They really do embarrass themselves when they play pretend-smart. They should just stick to what they're good at..."BOOOOOOOOSH!!!" and "YOOOU A RACEEEEST!!"

I am curious if that included a myriad of things? Auto/Home/Life? Cumulative?

So much for shopping and choice if $1K is just for health. Must be one heck of a policy...All Inclusive??

Well, I have asthma and I tell you, my first couple jobs (on my own) didn't offer health insurance.

I just paid for it out of my pocket! Didn't have a choice.

I spent a week in the hospital with asthma and the first thing I did upon leaving was go down to the billing office and work out a payment plan.

I was pretty happy to get my first job that had health insurance, but even now with two kids, we don't pay a thousand bucks! I mean that's insane!

Need to see the quotes? For someone my age, it is more like $1,500. Granted, this is full coverage...but IMO, catastrophic coverage should not be sold as health insurance.
