One more day extended for the people of Sudan to practice their constitutional right in choosing their president and those who will represent them in the National Assembly and the legislative councils in all the States.

In the first three days the voting process passed very quietly and smoothly amid satisfactory turn over, in the capital and many States.

There were modest attempts to disrupt the voting process in some States, especially Darfur.

All eyes were focused on that State as the sector of the public as the outside world, who are influenced by the opposition rumours and propaganda, were expecting trouble in the election there. But now it is proved, for their disappointment, that their threats were only for local consumption, and their act didn’t have any impact and the voting continued in a very peaceful atmosphere.

However, the voting was extended in many constituencies as delivering of the ballot boxes or voting cards was delayed due to administrative and logistic problems which the National Election Commission (NEC) is investigating.

These minor setbacks should be part of a comprehensive evaluation of the whole operation also all the points and remarks of the international bodies which participated in the monitoring, to be taken in consideration, to avoid repetition of any such incidents in the future even if they are of no impact.

As for tomorrow and days after till April 27, it will be days of suspense, as all contestants will be waiting for the announcement of the results, or in other words , the solid figures, which will be the final judge of the popularity of the parties running in the election.

As today is the last election day, we the people of Sudan would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all those individuals, regional and international organizations, for coming to support this democratic practice.
