President Obama: The Biggest Government Spender In World History - Forbes

The U.S. has never before had a President who thinks so little of the American people that he imagines he can win re-election running on the opposite of reality. But that is the reality of President Obama today.

After just one year of the Obama spending binge, federal spending had already rocketed to 25.2% of GDP, the highest in American history except for World War II. That compares to 20.8% in 2008, and an average of 19.6% during Bush’s two terms. The average during President Clinton’s two terms was 19.8%, and during the 60-plus years from World War II until 2008 — 19.7%. Obama’s own fiscal 2013 budget released in February projects the average during the entire 4 years of the Obama Administration to come in at 24.4% in just a few months. That budget shows federal spending increasing from $2.983 trillion in 2008 to an all time record $3.796 trillion in 2012, an increase of 27.3%.

Moreover, before Obama there had never been a deficit anywhere near $1 trillion. The highest previously was $458 billion, or less than half a trillion, in 2008. The federal deficit for the last budget adopted by a Republican controlled Congress was $161 billion for fiscal year 2007. But the budget deficits for Obama’s four years were reported in Obama’s own 2013 budget as $1.413 trillion for 2009, $1.293 trillion for 2010, $1.3 trillion for 2011, and $1.327 trillion for 2012, four years in a row of deficits of $1.3 trillion or more, the highest in world history.

President Obama’s own 2013 budget shows that as a result federal debt held by the public will double during Obama’s four years as President. That means in just one term President Obama will have increased the national debt as much as all prior Presidents, from George Washington to George Bush, combined

Waving a planted press commentary, Obama recently claimed on the campaign stump, “federal spending since I took office has risen at the slowest pace of any President in almost 60 years.”

This delusional clown needs to go bye-bye......

Its pretty much what we'd expect from a guy who had 2 communist parents and voted to the left of Bernie Sanders. If Barry did not have to put up with Republicans, independents, and centrist Democrats he'd want what Bernie Sanders wants, namely, $ 6 trillion in spending to sooth his eternally bleeding heart.

Depends on yhow you look at it. Reagan pretty much doubled the debt and so Did Bush II.
Obama has not done that yet.

Obama biggest government spender in world history, until the next president, Democrat or Republican.

Newts Republican Balanced Budget Amendment would have made liberalism illegal. Today our debt would be $0 not $16 trillion heading to $50 trillion!!!!

Amendment to what? In the old days we had a Constitution. But, we don't have that any more.

Reading the text of the Amendment that Congress voted on, it's so full of holes that it's not worth much, even if we still had a Constitution. 3/5 vote would allow a deficit budget. Not even 2/3. War would allow a deficit budget. When are we not at war? The budget only has to be balanced according to future estimates of income. I wonder how those estimates will come out? Or, there can be a deficit budget if there's slow economic growth.

shame on you and shame on forbes to lie and begin obamas fiscal year with the 2009 fiscal budget instead of the 2010 fiscal budget.

I guess people who just do not understand what a 'fiscal' year is can be fooled like you have been and forbes counts on ignorance to print such bull crap....

fiscal 2009 is president bush's fiscal budget, not obamas. PERIOD.

OBAMA'S 1ST FISCAL BUDGET BEGAN OCTOBER 1 2009, WITH FISCAL YEAR 2010.

2010, 2011, 2012, 2013....all Obama's fiscal budgets.....4 years.

president Bush, fiscal years: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009. for his 8 years

president clinton fiscal years of responsibility: 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 for his 8 years

you can't give bush 7 years for his 8 year term, and obama 5 years for his 4 year term...

it's that simple.

What is it Nova, that keeps you from understanding that you can't give obama 5 fiscal years of responsibility for a 4 year term??????????????

And you can't give president bush only 7 years for an 8 year term?

just READ the clip that you've posted....they include fiscal 2013 as obama's and they try to include fiscal 2009 as obama's....THAT'S 5 YEARS SWEETIE....5 years for a 4 year term....

Sorry you just don't get it....

What has Obama spent money on?

Stimulus $800 billion
Healthcare $300 billion

Where did the rest of the money go?

Two wars
Unfunded Medicare Part D
Decreased revenue from Bush Tax cuts
Decreased revenue from Recession

Blame Bush, why not, what we are living now is what was done in the past. Why more oil production now instead of when Bush was in office, becuase of the energy policy of Bush.
What you do today, affects the future also, and not just the present.

I think Obama will win the election at a canter, but I do also think Obama should have worked harder to cut spending.

I would like to see an immediate 15% - 20% cut from the military, which would make an enormous difference. Fund that by closing bases overseas and reducing the number of men in uniform. I'd also like to see private defence contractors largely skipped altogether.

You forgot nearly 1/2 trillion per year interest on the Republican National Debt!!! That's nearly 2 trillion over 4 years!

Yeah... Cut the Military so the next time someone attacks us, we can use our own guns to defend ourselves... Oh, wait...

Yeah... Cut the Military so the next time someone attacks us, we can use our own guns to defend ourselves... Oh, wait...

Which country is about to attack the US?

Of course the US needs a strong and well equipped military, but as you have no immediate enemy on the front of conventional warfare, I think you could cut a good 15% of that budget without losing a thing.

Focus more on combating terror and surveillance of external threats and maybe go crazy and try....grimace...PREVENTING wars!
