Obama stomps feet and throws tantrum aimed at SCOTUS

Newt's Big Whopper on the Individual Mandate | Mother Jones

Pressed by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) at Saturday's GOP presidential debate, Newt Gingrich offered a clever explanation for his longtime support for an individual mandate for health insurance. As the former speaker of the House told it, he had supported the mandate in 1993 specifically as an alternative to Hillarycare. The mandate was, he noted, a Republican idea. But "after Hillarycare disappeared…people tried to find other techniques."

Oh...I see....one man who supported it 20 yerars ago is ALL OF THE GOP.

Go back to masturbating. It keeps your sorry ass off this forum.

The common good would be every able-bodied person actively employed and contributing to society. Why is that not more of a priority for this President?
You mean, like....providing more educational-opportunities....to create more able-bodied people actively employed and contributing to society???

He's TRYING......

"The education related initiatives funded by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act are fully paid for by ending the government subsidies currently given to financial institutions that make guaranteed federal student loans. Starting July 1, all new federal student loans will be direct loans, delivered and collected by private companies under performance-based contracts with the Department of Education. According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, ending these wasteful subsidies will free up nearly $68 billion for college affordability and deficit reduction over the next 11 years."

......but, the bank$/"conservative"-inve$tor$ are WHINING about losing that $UB$IDY-income!!!!!

Why is everyone glossing over the fact that Obama is trying to influence a court on a decision that they are currently considering?

This thread is not about all the shit everyone is arguing about. It's about the audacity of Obama.

Let's be honest here, Grampa...if Obama had the "audacity" to use his State of the Union address to publicly chastise the conservative members of the Supreme Court who were giving him respect by attending said address...why are you in any way suprised by Obama trying to influence the Court now?

He's convinced himself (despite all evidence to the contrary...) that he's smarter than those that he rules over and therefore has the right to tell them what to do.

Becuase it has absolutely no affect on his golf handicap.

Keep with the program!

College makes you able-bodied now huh? College is no longer the only route to a good job.

People buying cars that run on oil also impact the common good, should the govt be allowed to mandate I only buy a chevy volt because automobile emissions affects everyone?

How about they mandate I can't buy red meat since the methane from the cows they grow to slaughter and feed me beef could cause global warming and affect everyone?

How about they mandate that I can't buy alcohol becuase drinking negatively affects my organs and might make health care cost more for everyone?

Should they next mandate I can only charge the volt with electricity from renewable energy sources? After all its for the common good....i don't think you are thinking this through.
Gee......hypotheticals....THE typical "conservative"-response to avoiding the (actual) subject-at-hand.

How creative.

Which President told us he would get us out, but leave thousands of advisors behind?

Common defense is a more often used term in the Constitution. This is a proper use of government involvement.

Yeah.....sure.......

Amazing, it is like he had heard how they are going to vote and he is preparing his case.

In order to wage "war" W. needed the approval of Congress which he overwhelmingly got. So if you want to ask who it was that took us to war, TM...then you'd best look at EVERYONE who voted to go to war based on the intelligence we had at the time and in case you've forgotten...that included most of the Democrats serving in Congress.

70 years of precedent.
WIckard v Filburn.

If the fed can tell a farmer, he can't grow wheat on his own land to feed his own cattle, it can tell you to buy insurance.

Last I looked, you CONZ weren't exactly brushed up on your basic civics or how to use "google" and we see this borne out again here.

the government PAYS the farmer not to grow wheat, dufus. It's not the same thing. the thing is you numbnuts who WANT to have ths government insurance and be taxed for it it, fine, but those of us who don't shouldn't have to. WE have "government" insurance already through hubby's retirement, we pay half the premiums.....
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....half......how DO you manage??

Yep, Jefferson even got one Justice impeached. But until the Court decided it had the power to declare acts of Congress unconstitutional, which it didn't have in the Constitution, it was pretty much up in the air. Remember nullification? The whole thing is politics, the justices are appointed to carry out the politics of the appointing president. But on rare occsssions a justice appointed to carry out the appointing president's politics turns traitor and adjudicates differently. It's all politics with a black robe facade.
