Obama stomps feet and throws tantrum aimed at SCOTUS

I personally don't think Health Care should be in the private sphere..AT ALL.

That said..health care is provided by the government is an indivdual has no insurance. That impacts the common good as everyone has to pay for that in one form or another. Which makes this industry entirely different from many others.

Personally? I think the indivdual mandate was a bad idea. It was a sucker punch by conservatives that said, "We..we have a viable alternative to single payer".

And that's proving to be the case.

so then all should buy disaster insurance as well?

Many people in their lifetimes will never experience a disaster.

Almost everyone will go to the hospital.

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-much logic (for the average Teabagger).

:eusa_clap:

Common defense is a more often used term in the Constitution. This is a proper use of government involvement. Common good should be determined by a free market economy.

"Promote" the general welfare, "Provide" for the common defense.

Why did the founders use different words to describe the governments role in those 2 areas?

Literary style.

There's very little difference between the intentions of both words.

In any case..the US stopped providing for "Defense" after the last time we were invaded. It's almost "offense" now (WWII being a huge exception).

Which has never ever been a problem for most conservatives.

The common good is not a call to socialism.
Maintaining the management of health-care distribution thru the private-market is called.....

It's funny.

He thinks he's a powerful enough of a tyrant to tell the SCOTUS to not do their job properly.

in other words

when he said his law was Constitutional, he knew he was lying.

Of course he knew.

After all he's super duper Law Professor who also edited the Law Review.

I just don't think he expected all the Attorneys General in all those States to file suit. He is after all, the One.

Surprise, Surprise.

They were trying to craft a document to preserve freedom and liberty.

funny how the right has already desided the program they wrote and used to support is unconstitutional.

Hey rightiest IT was a republican idea and it was a compromise with YOU that made this the plan.

Now you say its unconstitutional?

why did you approve it when it was a republican only plan?

First of all the Supreme Court isn't there to make decisions based on what makes the country angry or pleases them...that's the supposed job of the Congress and the President. In our system of government the Supreme Court is one of the main checks and balances to protect the Constitution.

Secondly, the country considers itself more to the right of center than the left. You probably didn't get that memo from Huffington Post or MSNBC though...did you? If the Supreme Court WAS concerned about public opinion ObamaCare would have been toast long ago.

Why is everyone glossing over the fact that Obama is trying to influence a court on a decision that they are currently considering?

This thread is not about all the shit everyone is arguing about. It's about the audacity of Obama.

Many people in their lifetimes will never experience a disaster.

Almost everyone will go to the hospital.

And most that do will own insurance whether it is mandated or not
And in the end, more suffer from disasters than those that NEED to go to a hospital but do not have coverage.

That's absolutely untrue.

At some point in the lives of almost every American in this country..they've been in a hospital..whether that to be born..or treat a life threatening illness.

and the majority of them owned insuracne BY CHOICE.

Now...how many billions of dollars a year are spent on those that are victims of natural or man made disasters where their possessions are destroyed?

How much tax payer dollars are spent on victims of disasters and how much are spent ojn those without helath insurance that use the hospital?

(and when I say "use the hospital" I dont mean those that go to the ER becuase they have a runny nose)

yo....you are WRONG!

It was not a republican "idea" as you put it.

It was a republican WARNING you dipshit.

They said....(paraphrased).....if you eliminate pre existing condition clauses, people will tend to not buy insurance until they need it and that will be the end of the insurance industry...unless you force people toi buy it......which is unconsitutional.

That is not "suggesting it"

Dam...you are so fucking naive.

It is truly pathetic.

He's absolutely right.

Over the last decade the Supreme Court:

-Decided and installed an American President.
-Decided that private corporations can take over the land of a private citizen to further their own profit.
-Decided that a state's laws prohibiting the keeping of hand guns went "to far".
-Overturned a century's worth of election finance reform.
-Decided there was a "time limit" on when an employee can bring a case against an employer for unfair wage discrimination
-Decided that a Vice President's meetings with private corporations to determine public policy was secret and not subject to review.
-Decided not to hear cases concerning indefinite detention.
-Decided that police can strip search private citizens no matter what the cause

It's a radical right wing court involved in judicial activism and legislating from the bench. It's been over stepping it's constitutional boundries for some time now.

Good on the President for pointing that out.
Aha! It appears that you are more full of shit than previously thought. Obama wants to ignore the Constitution. Obama is a Marxist.

Obama is also an uneducated fool when it comes to U.S. Law and the Constitution...despite the claim that he once taught Constitutional Law.

“Ultimately, I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically-elected Congress,” Obama said.

"Unprecedented" means it has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.

How many laws has the US Supreme Court declared unconstitutional

It has happened over 1300 times....hardly unprecedented. Either Obama does not know the meaning of the word, he is unaware or what has been going on with the Supreme Court, he didn't really say it or he is lying again!

Obama being a graduate of Harvard, I doubt he misunderstands the meaning of the word. I conclude that he has just lying...again.

I think Obama already knows the decision and it doesn't favor his position. If anything, it will create a larger majority against him. Checks and balances can be harsh Mr. President.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

what was the idea the Rs put up against what they called Hilary care?

Newt's Big Whopper on the Individual Mandate | Mother Jones

Pressed by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) at Saturday's GOP presidential debate, Newt Gingrich offered a clever explanation for his longtime support for an individual mandate for health insurance. As the former speaker of the House told it, he had supported the mandate in 1993 specifically as an alternative to Hillarycare. The mandate was, he noted, a Republican idea. But "after Hillarycare disappeared…people tried to find other techniques."

70 years of precedent.
WIckard v Filburn.

If the fed can tell a farmer, he can't grow wheat on his own land to feed his own cattle, it can tell you to buy insurance.

Last I looked, you CONZ weren't exactly brushed up on your basic civics or how to use "google" and we see this borne out again here.

the government PAYS the farmer not to grow wheat, dufus. It's not the same thing. the thing is you numbnuts who WANT to have ths government insurance and be taxed for it it, fine, but those of us who don't shouldn't have to. WE have "government" insurance already through hubby's retirement, we pay half the premiums, this is as much government as we want, thank you. At least the government is not deciding if we can get a procedure or buy a medicine. That's up to the insurance company. This would not be the case under Obamacare. it would be worse than an HMO, which is horrible, we've been there, done that.
