Sen. Tim Scott responded to Barack Obama's attacks on him by claiming it's proof Democrats are 'threatened' by his candidacy in the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

The primary contender is only polling around 3 percent, but is facing an onslaught from Democrats who claim that he doesn't understand race issues in America as a black Republican.

'There's no higher compliment than being attacked by President Obama,' Scott told Fox News Sunday. 'Whenever the Democrats feel threatened, they pull out – drag out the former president and have him make some negative comments about someone running, hoping that their numbers go down.'

The first black president accused presidential hopefuls Scott and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley of engaging in a 'long history' of minority Republicans downplaying racism.

Scott is the only black Republican in the U.S. Senate, and Haley is the first-ever Indian-American to hold an office in South Carolina and serve in a presidential cabinet as ex-President Trump's U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

It's the Democrats who have the hate and racism problem.
A Democrat politician's worst nightmare is racial harmony.

Why would he be any less qualified to understand race issues in America based on his skin pigment and political association?

You don't need to be black to discuss race issues, nor a woman to appreciate their historic plight. It might be difficult to understand what the impoverished experience in life if one has never been poor, but one can listen and understand better.

Tim understands America probably better and more optimistically than Obama ever did.

Obama could have been the great uniter. He chose to be a divider and "transformer".

Of all the current candidates in either party who are running, Tim Scott is the one I admire most. If he's still running in the Texas primary, he will get my vote.

It's clear to me that when a black person or a woman runs for president on the republican side that the democrats will go after that person with everything and anything they can, cuz blacks and women are a core constituency for the democrats.

So the blacks aren't stopped four times as often as whites and aren't arrested eight times as often although they both use drugs at the same rate?

Plus he downplays racism in the United States just like every other Republican. So why do blacks die in childbirth three times as often and get stopped in traffic in Minneapolis eight times as often etcetera Etcetera? Average black has 1/10th the wealth of the average white Etcetera Etcetera Etcetera

Tim is not the right kind of Niggra. Are you.

Obama is only 50% black while Scott is100% black.

Yeah, but he's an Uncle Tim. It's too bad, too. There's absolutely a place for another party that recruits Black people in good faith to compete in the marketplace of ideas against the modern liberal Democratic party. I think Democrats take Black, immigrant, women, gay voters for granted. There should be a competitive alternative. Unfortunately, the Republicans make the costs of not supporting/voting Democrats too high.

Because Tim Scott doesn't acknowledge the reality that most black people face. He tows the Republican line. Which is to say he sends a message that white people can get behind. He had the benefit of a mother (who raised him single) that worked two, three, sometimes four jobs to make ends meet and make sure Tim never wanted for anything. A lot of black children aren't that fortunate. If Tim Scott showed the slightest bit of empathy and understanding of what most black people have to endure, he'd actually have some traction and be a viable Republican candidate. He might even be able to beat Trump.....if he'd ever say anything bad about him. :)
