I called this the moment it was announced and this article is at least a year late but Trump (and some on here) stuck in his echo chamber viewed it as a win.

Trumps enemies pushed RvW to hurt Trump, the issue wasn't even on anyones mind at the time. The same people on both sides who would spend $7T (what in the...) in a single budget. Frightening.

Trump needs to focus on the female vote. Continue to speak about your belief in womans right to choose but protection of the unborn also in late stages. Contrast this with Dem politicians who state that abortion is ok right up to moment of pregnancy. Otherwise known as infanticide. Call out the selling of aborted body parts etc.

He doesn't need to impress his hardened base, he needs to get those not onboard yet.

Joe Biden is the most unpopular president since World War II. And yet, he could win reelection. Why? Because Democrats will continue to demagogue abortion politics and, especially in certain critical swing states like Arizona, the fight over abortion could mean a win for Joe. If they want to defeat Biden, Republicans must solve this problem.

Nikki Haley could help. Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, lost the GOP primary race to former president Donald Trump but earned considerable support among women and centrist Republicans by adopting a moderate stance on abortion. She rightly says that Trump must now win over those voters; he will need the backing of his entire party to win, as well as a good percentage of Independents. Convincing Haley to become his ambassador on the issue of abortion, charged with touring the country and telling voters the truth about the Democrats’ extreme and heinous position on this issue, would help his cause.

Democrats, though they deny it, want to allow abortion up to nine months; their position is disgusting and not popular with most Americans. That’s the law they passed in New York; that’s what they want nationwide. Haley has credibility on this issue; she could help convince voters that Democrats are the abortion extremists, not Republicans.

Is Canada advising republicans to support abortion?

Trump is already doing this with his daughter in law, Lara Trump, over the RNC. He is showing women that they belong in the top positions. Now Trump will finally get some good music for his convention and maybe a band.

They always have bands at Mara la go. She is young and can pull in that young money from rich people like the Hadid sisters and other Jews.

I'm advising people to be reasonable. This is an issue that may be important to some but the bigger picture is a sustainable America that won't go bankrupt and lose world Super Power status.

“Reasonable” meaning allow the women to have their abortions?

The politically correct position for Trump to take is advocating a federal law that would affirm early-term abortions and prohibit late-term abortions. This would put the Democrats on the defensive regarding this issue.

Yes, if not at too advanced a stage allow them to have an abortion.
And if thats not enough?

When they demand 4th trimester abortions if the child that emerges is not quite dead yet?

Repubs could become political whores and still lose to the dems who will give the women even more

Trump actually realizes this. It is his number one priority right now, so much so that I believe he will pick a woman for his VP that isn't hard right on the abortion issue and will be able to talk to women about this.

He doesn’t need a prayer with these polling numbers. He needs a hammock and a daiquiri.

All that happened with Dobbs is that the Supreme Court restored the Constitution and returned the question to the States. Trump didn't ban abortion and the Court didn't ban abortion.

Republicans who think they will pass a Federal abortion ban will run up against the very same logic as was in Dobbs: It's not a Federal issue and any Federal law will be unconstitutional. It's a state issue. So there is zero to fear about abortion by electing Trump. And Trump made that clear when he said that a day or two ago on Truth Social.

And any right-to-life person who stays home or votes for Kennedy because of what Trump said is a baby killer. Any vote NOT for Trump is a dead unborn baby at the hands of that non-Trump voter.

I'm all for banning abortion outright - by constitutional amendment.

An interesting side, in Hawkins, A Treatise on the Pleas of the Crown, (1716), abortion is identified not as murder but as a High Misprision, which is punishable by fine and imprisonment. Similar to modern law, though, causing the death of a woman's baby in the womb was murder. And that's what we should include in a constitutional amendment so that it will be a Federal law. Just remember, though, that the President has zero role in the Article V amendment process of the Constitution.

That's likely true. The fix was in for 2020 and 2022 and the RINOs in the Republican Party did nothing to stop it or challenge it because they preferred Biden over Trump. That hasn't changed. I'm sure the fix is in for 2024 and the Courts and the FBI will be sending anyone who challenges it to prison for long periods of time.

A Federal law would be unconstitutional. Trump already handled it right, explaining that he got it returned to the States where the conversation belongs. He's done with it. Not only is it the right political answer; it's the right constitutional answer.

Let's not forget that democrats are trying to help men steal what rightfully belongs to women. And biden's policies are on the ballot.

The female vote will put on the appartus and turn Mr. Trump around and bend him over and have him.

The drunken lib party girl vote is important

But not all women support abortion

The political problems is that there are millions of young women for whom abortion is an emotional single issue even if they live in a state with no restrictions whatsoever. Proposing (but not passing) a federal law might be enough to get them to go shopping instead of voting.
