In the eyes of National Rifle Association (NRA) executive vice president Wayne LaPierre, President Barack Obama’s decision not to pursue gun control legislation is a “massive conspiracy,” and just another reason not to give him a second term.

“[The Obama campaign] will say gun owners — they’ll say they left them alone,” LaPierre told an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Friday. “In public, he’ll remind us that he’s put off calls from his party to renew the Clinton [assault weapons] ban, he hasn’t pushed for new gun control laws… The president will offer the Second Amendment lip service and hit the campaign trail saying he’s actually been good for the Second Amendment.”

“But it’s a big fat stinking lie!” the NRA leader exclaimed. “It’s all part of a massive Obama conspiracy to deceive voters and destroy the Second Amendment in our country.”

“Obama himself is no fool. So when he got elected, they concocted a scheme to stay away from the gun issue, lull gun owners to sleep and play us for fools in 2012. Well, gun owners are not fools and we are not fooled,” La Pierre declared.

I remember once as a teenager getting a call from them. They meant to call my uncle who lived next door. It all about how the Democrats were in league with the UN to take everyone's guns and send "real, patriotic Americans" to concentration camps. I think part of my soul died that day.

Saying he's trying to take away guns because he didn't reduce the already laughable restrictions further is a bizarre argument. But actually, the only piece of gun legislation to the move in the past few years did reduce a restrict (allowed carry in the national parks).

Isn't the Sec of the Treasury appointed by Obama and does he not report directly to the President?

We have a lot of gun laws and they don't seem to deter crime. It is my second ammendment right to own a gun as long as I don't use it to break the law. Quit making excuses for people who commit crimes, stop making prisons a country club for gangs and the gun problem goes away.

commit a crime with a gun and die. Execute about 40,000 the first years and what the number fall. I have been a gun owner for 61 years since I was 9. Not one crime has been committed by myself or any of my guns.
