It seems that NYS is sending strong messages to any corporations which do business there - fall in political line or get out.
Yesterday, Letitia James filed a lawsuit against the World's largest meat packer, seeking fines, audits, and forfeiture of "all ill-gotten profits."
The reason? JBS has told consumers that it is committed to achieving climate goals of net carbon neutrality by 2040, but according to Letitia James, it is false advertising...
News article:
PDF lawsuit (42 pages):
Interestingly, the lawsuit mentions on page 12 that "Because of concerns about climate change, consumers are prepared to
pay up to 30 percent more for net-zero products."
That's right. Despite massive inflation, NYS wants people to pay dramatically more for real food. They seem to have not only a war on legitimate business, but also a war on their own citizens.
Let them eat cake, I guess.
PS: The basis for the lawsuit is that consumers seek out climate-friendly products, so that if a company makes false claims about the nature of their Cimate-friendly business, they are fraudulently enriched. Since every human activity has some climate impact, it would seem that lawsuits of this type would open the door to suits of any business with a Climate claim. Hopefully, lots of businesses are set to start making plans to move to more business-friendly states.
Time to boycott this Leftist Fascism.
