"Those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it"
In all of my studies & throughout the entirety of my political awakening, nothing has struck me as more profound than this quote. It never ceases to strike me to my core when I delve into another historical time period only to be slapped in the face with the disturbingly identical parallels between then & now...
Today?
The French Revolution...
What led to the outbreak of revolution?
Massive economic class disparity was the bedrock of discontent in France. Central economic planning, foreign interventionism, & population growth all put massive strain on the power structure of the country. Inept leadership & a massive failure to acknowledge the gravity of the problems plaguing the country led to a calm, & ignorant stroll towards a deadly cliff.
Sound familiar?
