No Swine Flu Shots For Obama Girls

The school programs are for FREE shots - thus the longer wait times.

The flu mist vaccine has been available at private clinics for weeks now.

So why no vaccine for the Obama family?
Please provide proof that the mist has been available in DC for several weeks.

If the girls got the seasonal flu mist they'd have to wait 28 days to get the swine flu mist. That could be one reason. Perhaps Mom likes shots better because she feels they are more effective. That could be another reason. Perhaps the Obamas want their daughters to have normal lives that don't include them getting special attention. That's could be another reason.

But I'm sure you're right...it's all a diabolical plot to fool the public into taking an unneeded vaccine.

DC-area had available swine flu mist since first week of October.

Let's just assume now that the Obamas will not get their family vaccinated.

Would one then have to assume the supposed dangers of the swine flu virus were overblown?

The Brits are already coming to that conclusion...

It appears the UK has drastically reduced its swine flu projections...

___

In his weekly update for HSJ and Nursing Times, national director for NHS flu resilience Ian Dalton discusses the latest developments in UK swine flu preparations

What should NHS staff be focusing their efforts on?

We have always been clear that our response to the current pandemic will be informed by the best scientific advice. On 22 October the Cabinet Office and the Department of Health published new guidance to support pandemic planners based on the latest science and understanding of the swine flu virus. As well as our own experience, the UK can now benefit from the southern hemisphere’s experience of winter, and the impact of a pandemic as well as annual winter pressures.

The evidence suggests that the pandemic may peak at a lower rate than we originally thought. Therefore, the reasonable worst-case clinical attack rate from 1 October to mid-May 2010 has now been revised down from 30 per cent to 12 per cent for adults. For children, the reasonable worst-case clinical attack rate has been revised down from 50 per cent to 30 per cent. The reasonable worst-case number of deaths is now assumed to be 1,000. The worst-case sickness absence rate (resulting from swine flu but not other causes) in the peak weeks of the pandemic is reduced from 12 per cent to 5 per cent. The guidance can be found on the DH website.

We should welcome this latest planning guidance but must do so cautiously. That we may expect significantly fewer deaths from swine flu than the scientists originally feared can only be good news.

My Way News - Sebelius: Americans must get swine flu vaccination

There were Threads about it...

The headline of your article is incorrect. She didn't say Americans must get the vaccination. She recommends it but she doesn't say they must.

Why must you lie, mal? Or do you just not read beyond the editorialized headlines of Newsmax and their partners in lie?

That's the Associated Press, not me Ravi... Don't go tossin' around "Liar" so Wrecklessly...

Flu Mist (MedImmune) is based in....Maryland. :)

And the DC-area was one of the first to get shipments of the H1N1 mist in early October.

So why no flu vaccine for the Obamas?

Could it be the swine flu dangers were grossly exaggerated?

DC Area Gets First Swine Flu Vaccines

No amount of alternate reality can save you dear Ravi.

Why no flu vaccination for the Obamas?

Why are the British now downgrading the swine flu threat by significant margins?

Alas, you have been made a fool of yet again...

Baltimore isn't exactly DC, is it?

But let's just pretend it is...36,000 flu mists for almost 600,000 people.

Oh yeah, you still aren't making sense...but in your scenario you expect the Obamas to demand something for their children before pregnant women and health care workers (the first tier) get it first.

What part of the word "area" do you not understand?
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The District's health department received its first allotment of swine flu vaccine mist on Tuesday when a total of 36,000 doses were delivered. In Baltimore late Tuesday, Maryland General Hospital employees became the first people in this region to get the new vaccine.
Baltimore isn't DC, and even if it were, 36,000 mists aren't going to go very far.

If you want to claim that DC residents get to share Baltimore's mists, then we are talking over 1 million people competing for 36,000 mists.

The article you posted earlier said it will be made available to private school kids on Nov 1

Swine flu vaccines to be available in schools
October 2, 2009 - 6:26am
WASHINGTON - The specifics for how school children will get the swine flu shots differs by jurisdiction.

In Maryland, public school systems and private schools have arranged on their own to get supplies, and should start getting vaccine around the middle of October.

In Fairfax County, only public schools will be used as mass inoculation clinics, and private school students can come there to get their shots.

In the District, public schools say expect to start giving swine vaccine on Oct. 19. Private school students will be able to get their shots at D.C. public schools, but that won't be until Nov. 1, and that has some private school officials concerned.

The vaccinations are free and voluntary, but health officials are encouraging parents to have their children vaccinated. The people most vulnerable to the H1N1 flu are between 6 months old and 24 years old.

The announcement that President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, are sending their daughters to Sidwell Friends School, an expensive and academically demanding private school, has ended a speculation game that consumed many in Washington since the election. Would the Obamas send their daughters to public school? Or would they pick a top private school and, if so, which one? In the end, the Obamas' decision didn't take many by surprise. A spokeswoman for Michelle Obama said the family considered "a number of great schools"—apparently, public schools were never an option—but that, in the end, Sidwell was "the best fit for what their daughters need right now."

Indeed.

And the nasal vaccination has been available for weeks now.

And yet - no vaccination for the First Family.

Because they are not in a high risk group prioritized to receive the first rounds of immunizations.

Yeah, but you have to Concede the Point that the "MUST" regarding getting Vaccinated was a Mistake on the Administration's part...

:)

peace...
No. The vaccine will be given in order of priority as it's related to risk factors.

Alas, you have been made a fool of yet again...
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the President's Advisory Committee on Immunizations have identified five target populations: pregnant women, health care workers, children with underlying health conditions ages 6 months to 24 years, older Americans with underlying health conditions.

The President and his family do not fit into any of those categories.

Therefore, you are either a fool or simply unable to comprehend what you read. Take your pick.

Yep. I've no idea what the greater DC area has received for swine flu mists other than what Sinatra posted at 36,000. The greater DC area has over 12 MILLION people.

I was reading that in one of our counties, parents are upset because the schools were giving students SEASONAL flu mists, (why, I have no idea) and now the kids can't get the swine flu mist for 28 days.

There is a lot of misinformation going around.

Yeah, we get it. You read headlines and believe them...and then post them as "fact."

The free clinic/school vaccines are the ones being delayed.

You can go to your private clinic and for fee, get the swine flu mist.

Including the Obama family.

According to the White House, they have not done so.

Why not?
