The Israeli Palestinian situation is a real whammy. A planet full of stateless refugees is a fiasco. THe modern day UNITED NATIONS needs to step up to the plate and start effectively dealing with serious global issues facing the future rather than picking sides. There have been many UN campaigns that have helped situations and people, and there are more that need proper attention. I believe that the USA must remain a part of the United Nations.

The UN should realize that they need us more than we need them.

That's the same response I keep hearing about everything--trade, NATO, EU, etc. etc. I think some folks need to realize that things are not the way they were fifty or sixty years ago. We do not have the best educated children or the healthiest citizens or the largest economy anymore. Times have changed. The world has rebuilt and countries that were knocked backward by WWII are back. Globalization has brought new major players onto the field, like China. The days of strutting around stiff necked and arrogant should be over. It's time we listened.
A lot of Americans think the UN's decision about our treatment of immigrants is right, too, btw. I know you don't agree with that, but maybe you could at least consider other ways of approaching the problem that don't separate children from their parents.

And why's that? The US needs the UN so it can try and legitimize its wars.

China is working hard to get the UN to do its bidding too.

It all comes down to money:
The United States is the largest provider of financial contributions to the United Nations, providing 22 percent of the entire UN budget in 2017 (in comparison the next biggest contributor is Japan with almost 10 percent, while EU countries pay a total of above 30 percent).
If the US leaves the UN they will have to find another source of cash.
