The right-wing political party set up by U.K. Brexiteer Nigel Farage has apologized after publicly firing one of its election candidates for being “inactive” — when the candidate had in fact died.

Reform UK admitted it didn’t realize that Tommy Cawkwell, its election candidate in York Central, had perished when he was sacked for lack of activity.

“We can’t afford to have people doing nothing in an election year,” a party spokesperson had told local news outlet the York Press.
But Cawkwell had actually died two months before.

But Reform’s selection process has been hit by a series of gaffes.

One candidate, in Aberdeenshire, was ditched after they made pro-cannibalism comments and suggested the former U.K. Defense Secretary Ben Wallace “should be left to die” in Afghanistan, while several others have been dropped for making offensive comments on social media.

The party are, for now, standing by other candidates whose outlandish views have been revealed by the press — including one who said criminals should have “their organs harvested.”

It is good to see that right-wing parties the world over are as inept and as crazy as the one in the United States. I was getting worried that maybe it was something unique to us.

You cheating skunks would've sent him a dozen mail-in ballots.

Tut...tut. Still, clinging to that old excuse for why you idiots lost the election? Sad.

But hey, if that helps you sleep at night... Thoughts & prayers.

They have had to sack 7 racist shits so far. Hope not Hate have some people trawling their candidates social media history so more will fall foul.

Pretty much anyone can be a candidate as long as they use code like "immigration" rather than say "gas the blacks".

As a guide to their calibre the party has just sent a memo out to candidates telling them not to go on social media after having a drink.

Wow. They sack them when they are nutty? The wing-nuts on your side of the pond seem to be much better than the lot we have here.

Here, to move up the ranks of the GOP, you need to be nutty. No exceptions. See Marjorie "Jewish Space Lasers" Green, Lauren "Beetlejuice" Boebert et al.

The leaders of Reform are trashy people but they want to attract normal voters. There needs to be a semblence of normality.
We have nutters as well but not on the scale you speak about.
