NFL Divisional Playoffs

Went 4-0 this weekend, all the home team's won.

I think Carolina was the most impressive, then Arizona, New England and then Denver.

I really would like to see Carson Palmer win one or even Manning win a last one before retirement. I wouldn't mind seeing Carolina win either. I really don't want to see New England this year, they are the least favorite of the four.

Carolina was shut out in the entire 2nd half and couldn't move the ball , what was so impressive? They were damn lucky that Wilson gave them a pick 6 early or they'd be outside looking in....

Denver sucked ass, barely beating a depleted and banged up Steeler team. They will not stand a chance against the Patriots.

The Cards almost lost to the Packers at home! Honestly, they looked sloppy. I don't see them beating the Panthers. Carson Palmer will need the best game of his life.

The best win was easily the Patriots. They scored 7 points in each of the first 3 quarters and 6 in the 4th against one of the best defensive squads in the league. The game was never really close. The Pats held the lead from the first possession to the last.

Carolina scored 24 points against one of the best defensive squads in the league in one half (I'm not counting the defensive TD). The game was close for almost exactly the same amount of time as the Pats game : in the Pats game, the Chiefs got within a TD with 1:18 remaining. The Seahawks got within a TD with 1:16 remaining. The Panthers held the lead from the first possession to the last. ;)

I was shocked when Carolina scored 14 in the first, then added 21 in the second. 31-0 over a Seattle in the first half. I don't ,any teams that have done that to Seattle in the last three years, let alone in just one half.

I knew the Seahawks would rally, they are a tough team. I also think Seattle is a tougher team than KC. The key was the Panthers control of the line of scrimmage in the first half. They eased off in the second and it allowed for Seattle to comeback.

New England is a good team but they have a lot more talent than KC. New England and Denver benefited greatly with the week off. Conversely I think it killed Carolina and Arizona's momentum coming off the season.

Saturday, January 16

Chiefs at Patriots (-5) (CBS) -- The Chiefs are on a roll. New England looks shaky. I think if Edelman and Gronk play the Pats beat Kansas City

Packers at Cardinals (-6.5) (NBC) -- Green Bay will play better than week 16 against Arizona. Over all, The Cards look like the team to beat.

Sunday January 17

Seahawks at Panthers (-2.5) (FOX) -- Seattle knocked of Carolina last year, this is this year. Seattle looked very beatable last week, that was last week. To me it's a toss up game and I only pick the Panthers because they are home.

Steelers at Broncos (-5.5) (CBS) -- Antonio Brown is out and Big Ben is questionable. If they are out the Steelers are done. Denver's defense is the best in the league.

These picks may change as we get closer to the games and injuries are better known.

Right! You have a full sized poster of Newton

placed over your headboard
with the ink licked off of a certain area.

I like Wilson..true.. But not romantically.. Just as a football god.

Wilson..110.something passer rating.. Newton 99 plus

Wilson nearly 70% efficiency on his throws

Newton less than 60.

Wilson the best QB EVER at this point in his career

Newton wants to believe he is a cartoon character.

Newton's success in the playoffs.. ??? Has he won ANY playoff games?

Wilson has the MOST playoff success of ANY QB since he became a pro.

After Sunday Carolina will seem like a vacation in paradise for the Seahawks.

There will be NO HFA for the Panthers.

Look like Hugs is going to cry all over his Wilson poster tonight.

Newton isn't Superman but Carolina was Seattle's kryptonite.

Hugs, I called it correctly and once again your over estimated how good Seahawks offensive line was.

Take all your stats and your NFL Game Pass and stick it. You are still a suck up for your team and not knowledgeable about football.

Keep trying, maybe one day you'll get to sleep with your hero Wilson.

Your analysis is 100% correct.

The only good news coming out of today's embarrassment is that Schneider and Carroll have an extra month to find the best candidates available to protect Wilson and the Seahawks' future in the upcoming season.

The first half of today's first game couldn't have been more inept.

Russell Okung is a fat tub of useless dog shit. The fantasy that he is some kind of pro bowl level player needs to be cut off at the knees. The Panthers first two scores were primarily the result of Okung's lack of ability or desire to do his job. We do not need a "competition" at the Left Tackle position as Carroll is famous for engineering. I would just like to see the look on Russell Okung's face at the V-Mack when he gets there to get his shit and it is all in a pile in the parking lot with a legal trespass/restraining order document pinned at the top.

Carroll's little magical experiment in the "Next Man Up" method of building personnel has come to an impasse
when it comes to coaches and Offensive and Defensive co-coordinators. It is a cute gimmack to trick players into believing that they all have an equal opportunity to advance to a starting position.

The truth is that certain positions do not get challenged in Carroll's team's.

Carroll was blindly loyal to Sarkanian at USC and the TRUTH was and is that he is an out of control alcoholic and probaly junkie.

The Hawks need to replace both Richards and Bevell. They can stay on as lower level trainers on a short leash.

Let's not forget that the personnel on the worst call in Super Bowl history was Bevell's brainchild ending the Hawk's almost certain repeat SB champs.

Schneider, Bevell, and Cable utterly failed to assemble a dependable O-Line. Their positions need to be restaffed with directors that have ultimatums of performance tied directly to their salaries.

Do you think Seattle would have won that game on another field?

I think the trainers and equipment guys could have issued longer spikes on the players shoes to match the conditions on the field.

For some reason Carroll has it in his head that playing conditions do not matter. They are "out of his control". Therefore the team must just mentally adjust to the situations. In Minneapolis it certainly could have improved the Hawks abilities if they had just layered on a few more garments and wore gloves. Today the field was clearly too loose for normal spikes as shown many times as the receivers and RBs slipped and slided attempting to get to their positions as the plays itchdeveloped. They DO make longer shoe spikes for just this situation.

I DO blame whoever nixed the idea to switch to longer spikes for the Hawks inability to stay upright on that crappy field.

And no running back over 20 yards. The Denver D will T off on Shady. ALA SB Giants.

Carroll made a mistake when they went for it on 4&3 on Carolina's 23 instead of taking the field goal. That would have made it 31-3, which seemed pointless, but had they done that, they would have been driving for the tying TD in the last 2 minutes rather than needing 10 points.

Had that game gone on for another 5 minutes, Seattle would have won.

Go Steelers!

where's my 2? (or 4?) - oh yeah, I'm rooting for the Bronco's... ;)

Broncos!? You only get one. Xoxo! lol

Sorry about the Steelers. I actually think they outplayed the Broncos. Also, I realized that the next team up is the Patriots and I think the Steelers have a better chance at beating them.... AND, Darius Heyward-Bey plays for the Steelers (University of MD grad - fellow alum) ...

Special teams and that 4th quarter fumble lead to their demise yesterday. We outplayed them but the scoreboard didn't reflect those results.

I didn't know you were a Terrapin. I almost attended Maryland but PSU offered me more of an academic scholarship.

Better college anyway.. good choice. I have an friend that went to both (PSU and UMD) - then got his law degree at GW. My brother is a very faithful alum of UMD. I had season tickets to their football program for a few years. It's still hard for me getting used to them being part of the BIG10

I've never really understood school loyalty. For that matter, why is it almost always for colleges? Why don't people talk about being an alum of 'so and so' high school? :D

They do! Don’t you hear the players on Sunday night football? They’ll mention their Elementary Schools etc. I think Aaron Rogers even named his Community College (Butte I think)….

There's the occasional high school mentioned, but I always assumed that those rare players were undrafted, walk-on types who didn't have a college to name.

Really, though, I'm talking about regular people, not pro athletes. I kind of get the athletes loyalty, since usually they started their careers in college. For everyone else, though, isn't college usually that place you had to give too much money to, and often still owe money because of? :p

If Seattle weren't so often a crappy first half team......

Their defense was never able to force a turnover which would have helped them come back

That and the fact that Seattle had little to no pass rush for almost the whole game. It wasn't until Russell Okung got hurt that the offensive line started to do a good job that propelled Seattle offense in the second half.

Well I don't give to the Univ. of MD. And my parents paid for my college (but, I had to commute) - it was worth it and prob. kept me from getting into trouble :)

True...Seattle wasn't a first half team in most of their games...in fact not even over the first half of the season games when they made numerous come backs in the second half and still lost. Seattle went something like 50 straight game leading at one point or other.

Seattle is really a schizophrenic team. The lowly Shitbirds played the first half, and the mighty Seahawks showed up for the second half....:confused-84:
The game was a perfect analog to their season.

Gotta love Russell Wilson though...he's got a shitload of talent and heart to match.

And if he would have not have thrown that pick six they may have won

If pigs could fly.....
