New Tax on Indoor Tanning Goes into Effect--I found this odd....

This is just the beginning of the taxes that will be passed onto all citizens to pay for OBAMACARE once implimented and going it will go broke, everything will be taxed to pay for this failure of a program. Every program the government runs goes broke and gets full of fraud waste and corruption!!!!!

hell yeah prolly half of every dollar the government spends is straight up stolen. One of the many reasons conservatives want to limit the size scope and power of government. Everything it does has always been plagued by corruption.

Obamacare will never happen... it can't. Its foundation is taxes on "somebody else". If you confiscated every dollar of wealth from every man, woman, child and company in the U.S. you'd still be $50,000,000,000,000 short of the mark of paying for all that has been promised.

You folks can't be so stupid as to think this progressive house of cards isn't on the verge of collapse.

But.. we just need to spend a little more money! The left's answer is like this:

A family of four with two kids in private school, a $200,000 mortgage, two car notes, $40,000 in credit card debt and a combined income of $60,000 and $0 savings.... you go buy a summer home in Destin!

What could go wrong?

Yeah....nothing like your nanny government spanking you when you get out of line, right? I think you would have been a good candidate with the Pavlov Experiment....that is if you were a dog. Keep jumping through the hoops for nanny.

Again, this is my choice. Do you drive a car? Do you have ANY idea how many individual taxes are lumped on cars and their maintenance? Are all drivers nannies too, in your little mind?

Oh brother.....you simple minded twit. Transportation is a need, would you agree? Now smoking, tanning, buying bottled water are not needed but a choice of an individual....should he/she be punished unduly for a lifestyle?
By the way, I'm not against taxes....just excessive taxes, which you seem to have no boundaries for. Like I said....dog, Pavlov Experiment.

Talk about simple minded, a car is not a need and neither is transportation.

"should he/she be punished unduly for a lifestyle?" Does this apply to everyone and their "lifestyles" or do your standards have a selective application??

This is a federal sales tax. Doesn anyone know how it will work? Do they have to pay monthly like state sales taxes? Or will it be added on to their 1040. Sales tax is a bitch so they may be hit with additional monthly reporting which is also costly.

The article didn't say how it was to be paid.

Really? Why are taxes on cars NEEDED? Do you know that state and local taxes collected for inspections, licenses and tags on cars in Virginia do NOT feed into roads? They feed a "general fund"...now please, Pavlov, tell me again why those taxes are "needed"?

OKAY...you brought it up...if they don't go to where they should....why do we need the taxes? For their out of control spending....and you are okay with that?
Sit, Spike, sit. Good boy....here's a bone for you.

Let's not forget, Pavlov...it was YOU who stated they were needed, not me....it seems you have been brainwashed more than you initially let on.

And nvm the fact that he never actually answered your questions and then pretended that he did something worthy of self praise as he avoided giving an actual response. LOL

In your world a car is not a need, smitty.
When it comes to applying excessive taxes for a lifestyle....anyone's lifestyle....even yours and VaYank's, I'm against it..

Crossing the street can be bad for us, the government better tax us everytime we cross the street.

Thanks for the taxcare liberals!

Your local government probably already takes care of that with jaywalking citations for not using a crosswalk or crossing against the light. I know mine does.

They already do.

Where do you think the money for the Walk/Don't Walk lights comes from?

This is the whole problem with the Socialist/Progressive punitive taxation philosophy. Why punish the indoor tanning business owners and customers who use their services? It's just wrong. These are our fellow American Citizens we're talking about. Why make them our enemies? This is unfortunately what Socialism/Communism promotes. It promotes turning citizen against citizen. Now the indoor tanning owners and their customers are "Evil" and should be punished. This is a very flawed and disturbing philosophy. We should actually be helping them to thrive instead. This punitive tax has no up-side. Businesses will go out of business and jobs will be lost. In the end the Socialists/Progressives will have only hurt the country and its economy. Not to mention,they really have p*ssed off a lot of good Americans. This stuff make no sense.

Why punish those who cannot afford private health insurance? These are our fellow American Citizens we're talking about.....

Do you find it at all odd that you care more for "fellow American Citizens" who may have to pay a little more for tanning services than for "fellow American Citizens" who cannot afford private health insurance? :cuckoo:

The government should not have its hands in EITHER of those 2 aspects of the private life of the citizenry

So when is the republican/tea party going to adopt their anti-medicare stance as one of the core attributes of their platform and scare off all of the old retired medicare recipients that they need to win elections in florida and other places??
Sure some talk about it on places like this, however, in the mainstream and especially during the healthcare debate republicans tried to scare old people and convince them that the republican party would protect medicare for them from the democrats. So it will be funny to see when republicans go mainstream with their real antimedicare beliefs and scare off all of the medicare recipients they lured in to support them. Somehow, I doubt that will ever happen.

Yo doc. Illegal drug prohibition isn't about individual choice and lifestyle. Drug abuse affects others. Please show the stats that tanning affects driving, employment and proper parenting and then you might have a valid argument. Sheeez.

It affects others when your skin cancer puts an unnecessary burden on the healthcare system.

Finances don't really matter to Obama and the socialist progressives....they have other end goals in mind...

You will CHANGE to my liking!

Taxing tanning is really the least of our problems.....via Obama Behavior Modification is soon coming our way big time.....

Obama Issues Executive Order Mandating “Lifestyle Behavior Modification”

According to the Executive Order that details the President’s “National Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy,” the Council will be charged with carrying out ” lifestyle behavior modification” among American citizens that do not exhibit “healthy behavior.”

The President’s desired lifestyle behavior modifications detailed in Sec. 6 (c) focus on:

■smoking cessation;
■proper nutrition;
■appropriate exercise;
■mental health;
■behavioral health;
■sedentary behavior (see Sec. 3 [c]);
■substance-use disorder; and
■domestic violence screenings.

It doesn't make any difference with them, ScreamingEagle. They could care less because it is much easier to be told what to think than to actually do their own thinking. They can't think out of the box with politics, and ask a tough question, "Why'?

LOL that is hilarious coming from a group of people posting opinions from a blog and then agreeing with them without question. LOL the fact is that this type of "behaviour modification" using taxes or the law to deter behavior that some find distasteful has existed and been in use for many years (some supported by republicans) and republicans didn't seem to care back then so it's funny how they care so much now all because they were told it should bother them NOW.

Americans do many things that create an "unnecessary burden" on the healthcare system...

You want to tax ALL of them?

So wait people who have health insurance and go tanning and get cancer are a burden on the health care system? Or is it just those who have the money to tan but not to buy insurance? because if you are paying money to tan and not buying health insurance, You are an asshole.

lol

Obama obviously hates white people. I mean it is our GOD given right to be able to tan freely without government interfering with our ability to fry our skin, it is what our founding father fought for!!
Yes. Civil Liberties also include the right to make yer' own faulty decisions. The problem comes when people don't want to accept personal responsibility for their own faulty decisions.

An example being when professional tanners sue the tanning salon for the cancer they get.

You mean like all those law suits against tobacco companies the Democrats pushed, when cigarettes had said they will kill you on them for many years?

LOL

Direct taxation by the Fed is wrong in any form, and clear violation of the constitution that we are forced to live with today. This tax is even worse. Any tax intended to not raise revenue, but instead to try and effect people behavior is unconstitutional and wrong. Like taxes on cigarettes the idea is to deter people from doing it by taxing it.

This is what we get for looking the other way every time the Fed bends the constitution just a little.

The big difference is that it is now known that the tobacco industry added things to the cigarettes to make them more addictive to get people hooked faster. It was their tactics that dragged them under and made them responsible. Don't you think it's time that you stop try so desperately to compare apple's to oranges??

I do find it funny how these types of taxes are unconstitutional to republicans NOW that a democrat is president while sin taxes of the past that were supported by right wing religious nutjobs bent on using the federal government to force their moral values onto others were not. But then this wouldn't be the first time republicans contradicted themselves as they flip flop on the constitutionality of a given topc based on political expediency.
The "advise and consent" for federal judges comes to mind as a good example of a flip flop considering how republicans are now talking about blocking obama's appointee to the SCOTUS when they said such an act was unconstitutional a few years ago.

The taxes have always been unconstitutional. No matter who is in the white house or in control of congress. Our founders never wanted the Fed to be able to levy direct taxes on the people. You people keep trying to pigeon hole everyone. Either you blindly support one party or another? Hardly. I would be happy if every sitting republican and Democrat all lost their elections this year. If I appear to be more anti Democrat today it is because today it is the Dems in power, and they ran basically telling us they were going to put a stop to all the BS going on in DC, and instead there is even more of it. I am acutely critical of Obama, because I think he his agenda is to radically change this country into something I do not want. The republicans suck to be sure, but Obama..... Obama is at war with almost everything I believe in.

I have been a vocal attacker of our 2 party system for years. We have 2 parties, neither of which respect us or are constitution like they should. Who have shared power in an unholy compromise for generations. Nothing will change as long as that is the case.

Nope it's not. If I want I can walk, bike, catch a cab or take a bus I don't NEED a car. It is a luxury not a need.
But thanks for playing. Dumbass

It’s Time to Tax Whitey–

Dems impose a 10% surcharge on the use of ultraviolet indoor tanning beds. White folks feel burned.

The Washington Post reported:
washingtonpost.com

The sun hasn’t exactly set on Solar Planet, but anxiety over the fate of the Arlington tanning salon has been running high ever since a “tan tax” took effect Thursday.

One of the less publicized measures in the new health-care law, the tax imposes a 10 percent surcharge on the use of ultraviolet indoor tanning beds.

Supporters — including the Obama administration, congressional Democrats and dermatologists — have argued that the tax will raise an estimated $2.7 billion toward the cost of expanding health coverage to the uninsured, while discouraging a practice that increases the risk of skin cancer by as much as threefold in frequent users, according to scientific research.

read it all here.
Gateway Pundit

What's "odd" about it? There are any number of safer ways to try to look as brown as an African American. They're not taxing the desire, just the process.

It's all about punishment. The Socialists/Progressives should be ashamed of themselves for these kinds of taxes. Why punish good & honorable fellow American Citizens? It's such a flawed and disturbing philosophy. I don't want my Government punishing good hard working Americans. These types of punitive taxes will only do harm in the end. Good people will lose their jobs. Something is definitely wrong with this picture. Time to kick some Socialist/Progressive A*S.
