New Tax on Indoor Tanning Goes into Effect--I found this odd....

Most indoor tanning businesses are small businesses. Attacking and punishing them makes no sense. Some will now have to go out of business or lay off more employees. This stuff only hurts the country and its economy. As usual the Socialists/Progressives are misguided. Why attack and punish small businesses for the Government's awful malfeasance? These punitive taxes are wrong and i don't care how the loyal Socialists/Progressives try to spin things. It's time for real change in this country. Time to wave bye bye to the Socialists/Progressives in both parties. Make it happen America.


You really think tanning fanatics are going to stop going because they have to cough up an additional $1.70 for their fix?

Some will and some wont. The point is that these are very small businesses for the most part. Why attack and punish them? It makes no sense. This particular punitive tax will only hurt the economy in the end. There is no up-side to it. The Socialists/Progressives are always misguided with their punitive taxation philosophy. It's all about punishing American Citizens. Punish American Citizens for what though? Punish them because our Government is completely out of control with their corruption? Sorry,i just don't believe in punishing average Americans for the politician's malfeasance. That's what's wrong with Socialism/Progressivism in a nutshell. It's all about punishing ordinary American Citizens for what the politicians have done. I can never support that philosophy. Hey that's just how i feel anyway.

The tax will not raise $2.7B. It will deter enough people from using tanning salons to the point where quite a few of them either go out of business, or shorten their service hours and employee levels.

In the state of Wa., the added 2.20 fed. surcharge, and the new 2.20 state surcharge may very well keep people away. Oh yeah, you smoke so you could give a shit about taxes. Personally, I think your being taxed waaaay tooo much for the smokes, also.

Just another thought on this subject...if I may. How many times have they raised the taxes on smokes? Hmmm

Raising taxes is always a deterrent to economic activity.

The government justifies tobacco taxes partly as a way to discourage smoking. For some people, even what is seen as a marginal increase in the cost will be enough for them to say enough.

Seriously,why pick on the tanning business owners and their customers? Unfortunately we will be seeing many more Socialist/Progressive punitive taxes coming our way in the near future. Punishing ordinary American Citizens for the Government's never-ending malfeasance really is Un-American in the end. These punitive taxes will do much more harm than they will do good.

You are right....I justify these taxes by paying them. I do not HAVE to smoke. It is not my RIGHT to smoke. I CHOOSE to smoke. Therefore I CHOOSE to pay these taxes. Now, since I CHOOSE not to smoke cigars, I CHOOSE NOT to pay the even higher import taxes on those items. Does this make any more sense?

And maybe you should understand the concept of the GENERAL WELFARE... and the welfare of individuals

And do not forget that even though the way a term is used now does not mean that the original intent also changed

We cannot be punishment taxed into 'well being'
