CHICAGO (AP) — After a recent bloody weekend in Chicago, the city’s top police officer reiterated something he’s said many times in recent months: People accused of gun-related offenses are too quickly and easily getting back on the street.

This time, Superintendent Eddie Johnson unveiled a new online tool aimed at illustrating his point by giving the public a quick way to see who’s been arrested on gun-related charges and whether they have posted bail.

“If we’re OK with how things are going, then don’t look at it,” Johnson said as he announced the Gun Offender Dashboard. “But if you want to know why we are suffering from some of the things we are, then take a look at it and come to your own conclusions.”

A story about a "Gun Offender Dashboard" and yet, the article doesn't include a link to it?

That's some mighty fine "journalism" there folks.

TY.

I see alot of people named Lamont, Tyrone, Deshawn, Jesus, Deandre, Cortez, Jamal, Miguel, and Lavarious in that list.

Are those common names used in Chicago or something?

This is from July:

But despite police making 84 arrests – 42 for felonies - on gun charges during the weekend, he said only 15 offenders remained in custody as of Monday morning.

“Our lax culture on gun offenders also sent a message to our community partners who had the courage to dial 911 or speak to their officers that they see about someone they suspected might be carrying a weapon,” Superintendent Johnson said.

He said their bravery turns to “shock and anger” when they see the same people they turned in walking free on the streets just hours later.

That is what it looks like.

Why are gun criminals being put back on the street?

It's that whole criminal justice reform thingy.

Surely you don't mean President Trump's criminal justice reform thingy?

Come on, man.

No, seriously. The city of Chicago has always been insanely stupid when it comes to criminal justice reform.
Changes rolled out about over 10 years ago via the States. Chicago, like Baltimore, has had massive problems via changes in the system. Two primary changes have been the courts releasing them ASAP and significant changes to the juvenile justice system. Using algorithms to determine release is a shit game as well.
