New Obamacare enrollment numbers released. Will it change minds?

....

The final enrollment reporting period spans from October 1, 2013, to March 31, 2014, and includes “in line” and other enrollment activity (such as people enrolling due to a change in life circumstance) reported through Saturday, April 19, 2014.

Importantly, 2.2 million (28 percent) of those who selected a Marketplace plan were young adults ages 18 to 34 — a number that grows to 2.7 million when counting ages 0 to 34, the report found. The report also shows, for the first time, the race and ethnicity of the 69 percent of enrollees in the Federally-facilitated Marketplaces who voluntarily reported this information.....

Key findings from today’s report include:

8,019,763 people selected Marketplace plans from October 1, 2013, through March 31, 2014, (including additional Special Enrollment Period activity through April 19th). Nearly 2.6 million signed up in the State Based Marketplaces and over 5.4 million in the Federally-facilitated Marketplace. About 3.8 million people, including nearly 1.2 million young adults (ages 18 – 34), enrolled in the Health Insurance Marketplace plans in the sixth and final reporting period, which began March 2 and concluded on April 19. Those 3.8 million individuals represent nearly 90 percent growth over February’s cumulative enrollment.
Of the more than 8 million:
54 percent are female and 46 percent are male;
34 percent are under age 35;
28 percent are between the ages of 18 and 34;
65 percent selected a Silver plan, while 20 percent selected a Bronze plan; and,
85 percent selected a plan with financial assistance.

Today’s report measures enrollment as those who selected a plan....

Obviously, this is helping people who need it the most and that's what being a human being is all about. IMO

So forcing people to enroll in an insurance plan by kicking them out of their satisfactory existing plans is a high-lite of governance.

Woo-Hoo! Let us all celebrate.

Obamorons Unite!

.

Not to mention costing the rest of us money as well as freedom. The ACA was, and will always be, a failure of staggering proportions to all but the leech class.

You don't even read the stuff you post.

There are no new enrollment numbers.

The blog link in the OP regurgitates the same information:

Enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace totals over 8 million people

More than 4.8 million additional Medicaid/CHIP enrollments

Enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace surged to eight million at the end of the first enrollment period, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced today. The final enrollment reporting period spans from October 1, 2013, to March 31, 2014, and includes “in line” and other enrollment activity (such as people enrolling due to a change in life circumstance) reported through Saturday, April 19, 2014.

1) OOps ....Sebelius is not HHS any more.

2) Five million of the eight million enrollees are Medicaid. :lol:

Yeah, percy, I'm glad to see an end to the over-priced junk insurance that didn't pay off. And, Citizen, I agree that its great that people are finally seeing that ALL insurance has ALWAYS depended on those who did not file claims and agree too that Reagan's Socialist EMTALA has been forcing us to pay for other people's health care for far too long.

Yep, ObamaCare has some very real issues but its growing and soon, the damn anti-American Repubs will have no choice but to support their constituents' need and desire to be able to buy and pay for their own health care insurance.

Or maybe they'll just keep throwing away tax payer's money on their admittedly fake repeal votes. But, hey, NO one is dumb enough to vote for them doing that.

:badgrin:

Nobody is required to sign up for Obamacare. They are only required to have insurance. Obamacare policies are an attractive option

Not true.

Obamacare policies are not an attractive option for many people, at least the ones who aren't subsidized.

And...

People can skip buying health insurance and just pay the fine.

Seriously, why would a 27 yo earning $40K pay >$9k (lowest cost plan) a year for catastrophic insurance when he can pay the fine of $369 and invest/save >$8k per year?

Exactly. Those who signed up are either being subsidized or are really bad at math. Apparently, the USFG no longer recognizes the individual right to say no to bad dealsm which is the only way such an abortion as the ACA could work: take away choice and require reporting. (Insurance) papers, comrade!

Can't you people just admit you were wrong about ObamaCare? You thought it would be some massive train wreck. It isn't even close.

I mean yes, Obama wasn't being entirely honest when he said if you want your plan you can keep it, but that figure is only 1 million people. It is unfortunate, but the overall success of this law is undeniable.

It is atrain wreck for those of us who had the option to make a rational decision whether to purchase insurace or not. That choice has been taken away by fiat. It is a train wreck to those of us who have seen our rates increase at an even faster rate than before the law's passage. It hurts the majority of people for the favor of a special interest. Worse law in my lifetime, and there have been some doozies.

But why are the approval ratings for this law only going up? Sure it started low but if people hated it so much these ratings would not be going up. In months time, the majority of Americans will favor the law.

Billy000~ If nothing, you are persistent! :)

Your current post doesn't address the OP.

Over six million people had their plans cancelled.

IF these people all signed up for Obamacare, their premiums and deductible went through the roof, unless they were eligible for subsidies...most weren't.
To those six million, it is a train wreck.

A California family of four making >$95k a year will be bankrupt in two years.

I'll save the employment losses in California due to Obamacare for another time.

This law has never had a favorable rating.

6 million people had their plans cancelled because of ObamaCare? I want proof of that claim.

I wondered about that assertion, and found the same historical data. Just wait until the nastier parts of the law start taking effect (mandatory reporting on Usfg taxes, providing proof of insurance, etc), and I suspect the popularity of the law will at best peak at 47%.
