Reagan also grew science, infrastructure and r&d to get out of his deep recession. These people can't point to one recession or depression that cutting the shit out of the economy = recovery!

The President delayed the employer mandate because it would have been political suicide when most, if not all of the 60% of the people on employer plans lost their plans right before the midterms.

That's why it pissed off the GOP and that's why the democrats didnt question why he did it.

1. Balanced Budget Amendment: Make both parties justify their taxing and spending "ideas"

2. Short, strict term limits: Does anyone think these thugs would behave this way if they were not worried about fundraising and re-election?

3. Publicly-funded elections: See #2

Yes, I know, few agree. And the GOP is programmed to conflate campaign money with "speech". But I want real change, not band aids on the fringes. Above is a specific plan that neither "end" would like, and that's usually a very, very good sign. We either get serious or we just continue to bend over and take it. Our call.

Three ideas that always sound good at first, but do not stand the acid test: Would they really do what you want them to do?

1. A balanced budget amendment would have to have an emergency clause, and congress would use that clause to keep right on deficit spending.

2. Term limits have some value, but would transfer power from elected officials to the bureaucracy and the congressionl staffs. We have way to much of that already.

3. Public funding of elections would bring thousands out of the woodwork to clog up our elections. Every greedy nutcase in the country would be wanting to get in on that public money while they gain their 15 minutes of fame.

The only real solution is to repeal the 16th and 17th amendments and add the states back into our federal system of government. That would solve the vast majority of our problems with the budgets, eliminate the IRS, and put controls back on congress through the senate. The way our founders intended.

Btw, you DO realize that a lot of econ stats also come from......wait for it, wait for it, wait.........surveys!! Sometimes they survey workers, sometimes they survey businesses, etc.....that's where econ stats come from.
