National Healthcare in Britain: They just canceled 50,000 surgeries...

Reagan signed it.

The bill was sponsored by Henry Waxman, a DEM.

H.R.3235 - 100th Congress (1987-1988): Health Maintenance Organization Amendments of 1988

Democrats in Congress passed it on voice votes. They would have overridden Reagan had he decided to veto it.

Why is this beyond your ability to comprehend? This was a DEM bill passed by a DEM Congress.

The actual bill was section 2178 of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981.

H.R.3235 Health Maintenance Organization Amendments of 1988 - Amends the Public Health Service Act to revise the definition of "health maintenance organization" (HMO) to include public and private entities meeting certain criteria.

And to further my argument of the need for one private non-profit insurance for all Americans: Quality of Care Lower in For-Profit HMOs than in Non-Profits | Physicians for a National Health Program

Why do your political views clash with your user name? Are you another Rightwinger that is somelwhere left of Lenin?

My political views are for a strong middle class which will repair the economy.

Bullshit! You are a liberal hiding your true beliefs.

My true belief is that the middle class workers in the US don't make a high enough level of pay for the jobs they're performing.

Yep.....the problem with socialized medicine...you run out of money......and then you have to stop giving even crap care to your people...and the really funny part....you have taxed those people at about 60% on their incomes to pay for healthcare you will no longer give them.....

Socialized medicine...when you want to pay for healthcare, but don't want actual medical treatment....

Great moments in single payer: Britain cancels 50,000 surgeries - Hot Air

The UK’s vaunted single-payer system has collapsed into “third world” conditions, thanks to a lack of resources that has ambulances unable to pick up patients, who would find difficulty in getting an empty bed at a hospital. The order came down this week from on high to cancel as many as 50,000 scheduled surgeries over the next several weeks until the National Health Service can figure out how to climb out of the hole (via Guy Benson):

Every hospital in the country has been ordered to cancel all non-urgent surgery until at least February in an unprecedented step by NHS officials.

The instructions on Tuesday night – which will see result in around 50,000 operations being axed – followed claims by senior doctors that patients were being treated in “third world” conditions, as hospital chief executives warned of the worst winter crisis for three decades.

Hospitals are reporting growing chaos, with a spike in winter flu leaving frail patients facing 12-hour waits, and some units running out of corridor space.

It’s not just the hospitals, either. The NHS will close down outpatient clinics as well, leaving Britons with very few options for healthcare at the beginning of 2018:
This is all because the Tories, the second worst party in the modern world, keep cutting the funding. The UK spends about 8% of GDP on Healthcare while we're over 17% and most countries spend 10 to 12%. And all of them have better outcomes than we do.
You blame the government. To justify more government.

The left are insane.

You blame government for government failures.

Valid reason for small limited government as the Founders envisioned.

Liability costs are only 2.4% of total healthcare spending.

Cut that down to 1.8%, the savings would buy a wall to cross the US-Mexican border. It's really stupid to pretend that 55.6 billion in 2008 isn't a significant amount of money. Are you really stupid? Also, if we had a reasonable government that allowed prices to fall across the rest of medical care, that % going to liability would grow as a percent.

This is one reason we can't reduce government spending, every liar and idiot defends their pet spending by saying it's just a tiny percent. Those tiny percents add up to what's being spent right now.

This is what Democrats want for Americans. It's not about improving health care for Americans; it's about dragging us all down to equal substandard care, but hey, everyone will have it and it will be "free."
Yep..

at this rate their health program will rate right there with cuba

another socialist utopia the leftards love so much

We didn't make the top 16.

The 16 countries with the world's best healthcare systems

That's why the rest of the world flocks to the US when they need the best healthcare!

No one is questioning the quality of the Healthcare. But the system is broken. What good is high quality health care when no one can afford it.

And yes other people do come to our country for Healthcare. But their government pays for their care while in the US.

I work in Qatar and if there is a procedure that can't be done in Qatar , the government will send them to the US and pay for it.

Our government won't even pay for an advil.
Why do you want other people to pay for your shit? Are you some type a fucking deadbeat?

You do know most clinics in Mexico are owned by American doctors because they don’t have to pay for fucked up frivolous lawsuits and extreme regulations and liability insurance

Why don't these people just pay for health insurance and get their surgery done privately?
It works so well in the US.
I may be wrong but I think it's illegal to do that in the UK.

The taxes to pay for the horrible NHS are so high, normal people can't afford to get those surgeries from private Doctors.....the Rich can, but not the poor.....
Which explains why everyone in the US has health insurance I suppose.
Thanks for clearing that up.
Insurance is not healthcare. Dip shit

This is "Hot Air", they don't citation anything, you know nothing about the surgeries maybe they are all elective and for things like moles.

It's the UK Telegraph

NHS hospitals ordered to cancel all routine operations in January as flu spike and bed shortages lead to A&E crisis

And why don't you provide us with some evidence that these are elective mole removals.
Flu can be pretty bad if they don't get the combination right in the preventive shots.
No one should have fucking shots forced on them you fucking moron

Well now there is no mandate so you can decide whether you and your family should have health insurance or not without being a democratic stooge LOL... And I doubt either of you are the rich that are the only people Democrats want to pay more in taxes...

Universal healthcare is paid through taxes like education and the roads you drive on. We already pay taxes. So our tax dollars should at least go into a necessity like healthcare.

American doctors run Mexican clinics... Because they don’t have to deal with frivolous lawsuits and stupid ass regulations. Dumbass

There are many ways to cut the price of medical care in the US. One good way is to limit liability costs. Replace lawyers and jackpot awards with a workman's-comp style system. And, let patients share more of the liability themselves (which seems to be zero liability right now). But, Republicans and Democrats are united in wanting lawyers to get rich.

Lawyers make up the majority of professions in Congress. Like family, they protect their own plus attorneys contribute hundreds of millions to their brothers in power.

I don't favor many policies and procedures in Great Britain. Part of their legal system is the exception and should be made a part of tort reform in our country.

Today, attorneys advertise endlessly that if you slipped Iand fell, had a relative who died, or tripped on a crack in a sidewalk, CALL TODAY 1-800----- AND WE'LL MAKE YOU RICH.

In Great Britain, loser pays both parties attorney fees.

That would eliminate all the lawsuits where the plaintiff and attorney are just hoping that the defendant will throw $25,000 or $50,000 at the plaintiff to settle rather than spend more than that on attorney costs.

Like hard liquor, prohibit drug and attorneys from advertising.

Attorneys could still take cases on a contingency basis but I'll wager attorneys would be a whole lot more selective in who they chose to represent.
