Most importantly we need to create jobs, increasing taxes helps attain that how?

Hey according to the left

Just so you know, nothing is Papa Obama's fault because a President can't do anything to the economy
But, they want you to know that unemployment went up under Bush
:eusa_angel:
No doubt, they will be blaming Bush if the economy improves.
Since there is little chance of that happening, I doubt they will have to worry about it

rattle on, you one trick pony!

I would tell you but you would learn so much if you did it on your own

This is pretty basic posting material- you think you would know this stuff

What do they teach you in "Never Never Blame Obama Land" schools?
(Did you know unemployment started to go up under Bush)
:eusa_whistle:

I see you dropped the "you won" wording
Good thing, it does make you look rather pathetic

Now if we could get you to drop the profanity,
you might start to sound less boorish... and have something to say of use
besides, chants from the "Never Never Blame Obama Land"

Unemployment is up again.

How long are you libs gonna push this tax and spend solution?

IT'S NOT WORKING.

The boat your trying to float is taking on too much water. It's time to dry dock Barrak.

Plus you know it is getting bad for Papa Obama when they start "selling" off $5 dinner dates with him
Remember, in "Never Never Blame Obama" land, nothing bad is his fault and unemployment started to go up under Bush)
This is all the American people need to know.....

Win $5 Dream Date with Obama or How Low Can the Bidding Go?

Comrades,

Papa Obama has done it again with his great genius. No doubt he is the smartest President, like ever.

In thinking of new ways to raise political donations, Papa Obama has come with the concept of $5 donations to 'Win" a chance to have dinner with him.

A Dream Date, for sure. Of course, expanding on this success demands that we reach out even more for the youth vote.

Yes indeed, what pretty little "devushka" would not love a chance to win a Dream Date with Papa Obama?

Don't forget anyone who makes over 200k (250) as a couple. Is an evil Rich Leach who is sucking the peoples wealth from them.

What you didn't know that According to Obama, people who make over 200k are Millionaires and Billionaires right?

I know lets pass a new tax on the super rich. Not an income tax. A net worth tax. Every year they pay 50% of their total Net Wealth to the government. After 10 Years or so there will be no More Evil Rich left and we will all live in a utopia of equality and happiness.

Woooooo Hoooooooo!

Horseshit.

All we need to do is repeal the Bush tax cuts and raise the top rate 3%.

Horse shit, What you propose will not have the Effect the Democrats claim. Their Projections on how much more we would take in if we repealed the Bush Tax cuts, and raised the top rate. Are based solely on Math. They do not factor in any negative effect on the economy from them in their Projections.

I assure you what you propose will not solve the problem, It will not give you the expected return, and will Undoubtedly be a drag on hiring and the Economy. Period.

We have proven time and time again on this board that you could take 100% of the riches Annual Incomes and still not Even make a dent in our Debt Obligations.

No matter how many time you leftists say it, it wont be true. We can not solve this problem on the backs of the rich. We do not have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem. No matter how much more Revenue we bring in, The Government will always spend more than we take in with the current mentality. We could raise taxes and bring in another 1.5 Trillion dollars a year, and the Assholes in DC would simply find more ways in which to waste, Steal, and squander our money, and will still run Deficits.

That is why I am so opposed to Raising taxes to solve this problem. I know for a fact raising Revenues will only encourage the idiots to spend more.

We have a Bunch of Idiot Politicians running this country. Who could care less about Debt. But have never seen a Surplus they could not use as an excuse to start yet another Inefficient Federal Program. Not 2 Days after we post a Surplus, If we ever do again, will it be before some asshole Congressperson is on the floor of Congress proposing a new Programs and saying. Look we have this Extra Money to fund it. Lets do it.

There all a bunch of Idiots. Our System has a fatal flaw and it's human. We don't have people who take the long view, and do what's right for America. We have people who only look as far as their next Election and do what they think will buy them votes in the Short Term, while they Kick the Real Problems down the Road for some other poor Schmucks to deal with.

It's a Joke, and more and more I think the Whole System needs a Make Over. We need to figure out once and for all, how to take the Playing to the Next Election Cycle mentality out of the Equation. We need Representatives. Who worry about the Countries Future not their own Political Future. Nothing else can Save us.

Most businesses don't pay anywheres near the top marginal rate. Most industrialized nations with lower corporate tax rates than ours have a VAT tax, which we don't have.

You are correct most enterprises don't but most small to medium business do. I don't fancy myself a liberal or a conservative but why have a high marginal corporate tax rate when the businesses you are most likely to penalize are those trying to create jobs.

In terms of income tax most of the really wealthy have long since shifted their income to capital gains and income taxes are just a red herring.

Raise capital gains taxes and lower/eliminate corporate income taxes. Small business will be able to grow and politicians will lose a major source of contributions.

Three Little Pigs: How Entitlements Will Destroy Us

Our national debt recently topped the $13 trillion mark. That amounts to nearly 90% of this country's GDP; $72,000 in debt for every household in America
Now add Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security, and Obama's 2011 budget has a $1.27 trillion deficit. It's the entitlements, stupid.

Nor can you tax your way out of debt. Eliminate all of the Bush tax cuts, including the tax cuts for low- and middle-income Americans, and you would reduce the debt by perhaps 10% — assuming you didn't cripple the economy in the process. Tax the rich? That won't get you there either. In fact, according to the Congressional Budget Office, in order to pay for all currently scheduled federal spending would require raising both the corporate tax rate and top income tax rate from their current 35% to 88%, the current 25% tax rate for middle-income workers to 63%, and the 10% tax bracket for low-income workers to 25%

There is simply no way to control our debt without getting serious about reforming entitlements.

If we'd get rid of the tax loopholes and tax cuts for the uber wealthy and corporations, then we could use that revenue to fix bridges and roads. Wanna talk job creation that would actually make a difference? There it is.

Besides............most of us poor schmucks pay anywhere from 28 to 32 percent of our income in taxes. Wanna know what the corporations paid? 21 percent all the way down to 7 percent.

Wanna tell me how that is fair to the average American?

obama already sucked a trillion dollars of the taxpayers and he didn't fix any bridges or roads.

Remember, those corporations are paying the salaries and benefits of every employee too, not to mention property taxes in addition. Actually most of the poor schmucks don't pay near 28 - 32 % and how much are these poor schmucks providing to anyone else but themselves? are these poor schmucks creating jobs and paying benefits?

Done properly government spending will help this economy.

Supply sider economic policies (including tax breaks for billionaires) are in part the reason this nation's economy is in the crapper.

And you have missed the major item of debt for the nation? Any guesses, no one seems to face reality.

Sorry your are right

Vote Papa Obama out of office and the rest of the Democrats
The guys who can't stop spending

Thanks

In your partisan, ideology driven fog you didn't answer the question? Try to turn off the corporate teleprompter in your head for a second and think again? Any answer? You have none as you are the modern American, blind but contented and partisan, nothing really wrong with that except that attitude and its policies have failed to keep the promise of America for a bit of the pie for all. Rich republicans and rich conservatives didn't create the pie they only sponge off it. The Conservative Nanny State

For others see stuff below.

"There is no need to sally forth, for it remains true that those things which make us human are, curiously enough, always close at hand. Resolve, then, that on this very ground, with small flags waving and tiny blasts of tiny trumpets, we shall meet the enemy, and not only may he be ours, he may be us." Pogo

According to a recent Harper's Index 10,149 US companies are now foreign owned. The average net worth of a white woman between 36 and 49 is 42,600 dollars. For a non-white woman it is five dollars. The CEO of Nike, Philip Knight is the sixth richest man in America. He is worth five billion dollars. "By 1992, Nike had eliminated nearly all of their U.S. work force in favor of low-wage Asian producers." (See Nike Link)

'As of 2004, the richest one percent of Americans possessed sixty percent of all wealth in the country, while the bottom forty percent accounted for a whopping two-tenths of a percent.' 791 American companies listed in URL below outsource their work to foreign countries. The few companies I am familiar with have well over 5000 employees in India. Added together, how many jobs do you think this list comprises? 'There are 2.4 million job openings for 15.3 million unemployed Americans.'

'The 400 American families with the highest incomes have seen a dramatic decline in their effective tax rate since 1992.' '80 percent of Americans 65 years and older depend on Social Security for half of their income.'

'The rich countries' subsidies to their richest farmers were $300 billion in 2005. Their tariffs on manufactured imports from poor countries are four times higher than on those from other rich countries. In 2005, just $7.63 billion of the total $106.78 billion of aid went to basic social services - 0.02 per cent of the rich countries' combined GNP.' (See Book link below)

'In 2004, 2.5 billion people, 40 per cent of humanity, were living in severe poverty. Every year, 18 million people, a third of all who die, die early from poverty-related causes.'

The SCOTUS recently gave free speech rights to a corporation, do you think their next step will be to give free speech rights to foreigners as they own and operate much of America? Maybe Toyota's executives could inform Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito on their corporate needs making sure laws are in-line with profits.

Republicans fought tooth and nail against Clinton's raising of the minimum wage, and Reagan was content to keep minimum wage stagnant during his presidency. Republicans just voted down extending benefits for the unemployed, and BP has a real hero in Republican Barton. FDR started minimum wage at 25 cents.

Republican congresses have opposed every change since social security to medicare, and today continues to say 'no' to anything that helps the nation and its working people. One has to give their propaganda machine great credit, for they do nothing but make it appear all things done by the opposition are bad or will lead straight to hell.

The Disclose Act is 'designed to increase transparency for corporations and other interest groups who make contributions to political campaigns. The bill passed 219 to 206 with only two Republicans voting in favor of the measure.'

'...if we completely repealed the estate tax, it would provide an estimated $32 billion tax break for the Walton family — the founders of Wal-Mart. So, let me make a contrast here with regard to Republican philosophy. They believe that it is a good idea to give a $32.7 billion tax break to one family worth $86 billion, but when it comes to providing $35 billion for an emergency extension of unemployment benefits to some 2 million Americans who lost their jobs through no fault of their own, the Republicans are just not there. One family gets almost $33 billion in tax breaks, 2 million working class Americans get nothing.' -Bernie Sanders

It seems the truth is simple and obvious as the old cartoon Pogo demonstrates. Or is it just profit motivation regardless of the consequences. If money is the primary admired goal then the new American icon should be an overpaid sports figure (pick one), and/or Bernie Madoff or the many other investment millionaires who really do nothing, followed by televangelists such as the Crouches or Osteens, they at least make some people happy with the promise their reward follows this vale of tears.

'Don't Tread On Me' needs to be revised to include a fat-cat, smoking a cigar, wallowing in money on the French Rivera. That will at least get our new American values in line with reality.

And someone needs to revise 'Proverbs' as all this talk of helping the poor went out the window with the massive cathedrals that make Babel look like a shack. "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who run large businesses. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the wealthy and the corporations." Proverbs 31:8-9 [American Revised Edition]

Well your idea about roads and bridges creating jobs is a myth imo. I live in KC. It has a large population with high unemployment. We have major road and bridge projects going on every year including before the downturn. Those projects have had 0 impact on our unemployed.

As far as corporations sitting on money your right. But why? Could it be the fear of the massive regulations? Could it be fear that obamas policies are going to have negative impacts on the economy as a whole?

I'll give you one example of jobs lost because of fear.... I am willing and able to buy another company truck. It's about a 50k investment. I have the money but am scared to death to spend it because I don't feel confident that I will have enough work through the next year to justify the investment.

Now do you consider me one of those evil and greedy business men?

:eusa_eh: They hire out of state for those projects? Or do they have Chinese companies come in and build them?

Essentially because of several reasons. TARP went to repair conservative fuck ups. The stimulus was nearly half tax cuts. And there was no requirement on the part of states to build anything with the part that wasn't..so, like Governor Rick Perry of Texas, they used it to fill gaps in their budgets.

Just for the record I'd like to see substantiation that MOST small/medium businesses pay 35% on their profits.

If the corporate tax structure is primarily responsible for the lack of new hiring, why did businesses ever hire in the past, under essentially the same conditions?

Ok, let's make a massive cut in federal spending this year and lay off, say 200,000 federal employees.

Then we'll cancel 500 billion dollars worth of ongoing or planned federal contracts with the private sector for goods and services.

How many net jobs will that create by next year?

Hey, if teleprompters are good enough for Papa Obama then they are good enough for me!

Didn't like my answer?
Perception is reality in politics, no matter how unfair that may seem..

As of today, Papa Obama has failed

Really, things are so bad, we could do no worse than by just picking someone out of the phone-book.

A day is a life in politics; maybe if unemployment gets to 7.2%, he could win again.

Time will only tell; but it is running out

That's a stupid question. And the fact remains that despite our road projects that unemployment is higher than ever. My point remains. Building roads may hire a few more beer drinkers but the population at large is still unemployed. We need jobs for every sector of our population not just the toothless Friday night drunks.
