More record heat

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Temperatures are predicted to soar again as Southern California drips in unusually high humidity during a midsummer heat wave.

With a sultry, unstable airmass refusing to budge, forecasters predicted close to record temperatures on Saturday and no break from the heat until Monday. Sunday is expected to be slightly cooler.

The National Weather Service issued an excessive-heat warning through Saturday night for mountains and valleys.

"It's gonna be bloody hot and humid," weather service spokesman Bill Hoffer said.

A 90 degree record high was set in Westwood, breaking the previous record of 87 set in 1978. A 1998 record was tied in Long Beach, where the mercury hit 95 degrees.

Funny how you didn't quote the record LOW temps they had last week. Just goes to show, if it's hot it's GW, if it's cold it's weather, unless they can figure out how to spin it.

For the first time in nearly two years, Denver is enjoying — er, experiencing — a 100-degree day.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the official temperature at Denver International Airport hit 102 degrees, breaking the record for July 17, set in 1971.

The last time Denver hit 100 degrees was Aug. 2, 2008.

Wow, imagine that we've been pumping in BILLIONS and BILLIONS of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere and it took 29 YEARS to equal an old record. Man we need to pollute more!!!

RALEIGH—It is just mid-July and parts of the state have already broken heat records this summer and Weather on the Ones meteorologists say temperatures are expected to climb in the coming days.

As is the case with the rest of the country, it's been a hot summer in North Carolina. June was a month for the record books. The National Climatic Data Center shows, in the Triangle and the Piedmont Triad, the average monthly temperature for June was the highest recorded. Charlotte saw its longest ever streak of days above 90 degrees.

New York City Heads to Hottest July on Record as Heat Continues

(Bloomberg) -- If it feels hotter than it’s ever been in New York, that’s because it is.

New York’s Central Park is heading toward its warmest July on record, as a second heat wave this month promises to move into its fourth day today, according to the National Weather Service.

The average monthly temperature in Central Park has been 81.6 degrees Fahrenheit (27.6 Celsius) so far this month, warmer than the record set in July 1999 of 81.4, said Matt Scalora, a weather service meteorologist in Upton, New York.

It was proven experimentally in 1859.

But you know that Frank, don't you?

The Carbon Dioxide Greenhouse Effect

Science has advanced a tad since the 1850's there Chris old boy. You might want to advance with it. Here are a few links. I havn't even got close to the physics side of it. Where the fourth (I think it's the fourth, it's been awhile) Law of Thermodynamics kicks in and shows CO2 to be a relativly innocuous gas.

I read the Objectivist article. He called AGW theory "insane". That's hardly objective in my book and jibes with the rest of the article when he talks about incoming vs out going radiation. It's a total irrelevancy, because what's important is only the ADDED trapped energy. That would primarily be the reflected wavelengths trapped in the lower atmosphere. Talking about incoming radiation being trapped in the upper atmosphere is irrleevant to the discussion and probably only added to confuse the unscientifically minded.
