People that embrace political correctness are fucking evil...

I suspect the no watermelon comment was added for effect. Too obvious and added at the end if the day.

Calling BS

chaperones were not aware of the watermelon comment until the end of the day.
hahahahhahah
.....she said ''they never told the white kids''/etc blah blah'''---so she followed the whites the WHOLE time!!!!???

Dear harmonica:
The problem was not that, but a comment that included a racial stereotype reference:

‘At the very beginning of the tour, one of the staff gave an overview on what to expect and told the kids
no food, no drink, and no watermelon,’
Lamy wrote, revealing the class’ chaperones
were not aware of the watermelon comment until the end of the day.

Like you, the people in charge
WERE NOT AWARE OF THE WATERMELON COMMENT
until later...

Thank you harmonica for your clarification.
You didn't mention contesting this complaint as FALSE,
so I couldn't tell if you had overlooked it or what. Since this statement
was PROMINENT in the article you linked, I would have expected you to
contest it as FALSE so it was clear you weren't ignoring it but were fully aware.

I searched again online,
looking for any rebuttal that such comment was never said,
I found this instead which makes it sound worse:

================
‘No Watermelon’: Boston's Museum Of Fine Arts Apologizes After Its Staff Repeatedly Mistreated A Group Of Black And Brown Seventh Graders - Blavity

The security guards also followed Lamy’s class as they walked through the exhibits. As she gathered the students to leave, one of her female students was subjected to misogynoir. This incident was the last straw for Lamy.

“I was pulling one of my students to come out the exhibit, when she said that one of the visitors made a comment towards her when she was dancing to music included in the exhibit,” she wrote. “The visitor said that’s it’s a shame that she is not learning and instead stripping.”

================

That's TWO comments that I am guessing you would contest as false accusations until proven true.

You are right, BOTH these comments COULD BE false accusations, in which case the false accusors would owe not only apology but corrective actions for resolving all the aftermath caused.

I still believe the 3 men in Smollett's case owe corrective actions in the media for spreading harmful defamation that damaged integrity and faith in police and public relations (in addition to the cost and damages of false police reports and subsequent investigation and administrative expenses to resolve)

If this case also turns out to be the same, I'd ask those students and teacher/chaperones also to invest in public relations corrections to this incident to resolve the injuries caused.

If the MFA staff is at fault, I would invite those persons RESPONSIBLE to participate in public relations outreach to resolve this and related problems caused.

Thank you harmonica, and either way, the people responsible in BOTH CASES for false and inflammatory/defamatory statements should be supported and/or required to invest in restitution such as public outreach to prevent and reduce the problems their misconduct escalated.

Two MFA Members Banned For Racist Comments - The Heights

1. The policy stated by actual museum staff was
No Food, No Drinks, NO WATER BOTTLES.

2. The person who made the offensive "stripping" statement
was a VISITOR not Museum Staff.

So the Museum responded by banning TWO Visitors caught
on tape as responsible for disparaging treatment toward the students.

You are right on the point that the statement was refuted (and
claimed to be "No Water Bottles" instead of "No Watermelon.")

This seems the most likely explanation, though it could have
HONESTLY been MISHEARD to cause the offense.
If so, the false accusation was not intentional.

As for the other statement, which I thought was WORSE,
this was made by a VISITOR not Museum Staff.

The students had reason to be offended.
They blamed the wrong people, but they did not intend to,
and it seems the Museum staff was able to resolve this smoothly
because neither side had ill intent.

The persons most at fault appear to be certain Visitors. Even if the student should not have
been dancing to disrupt the other museum guests, the way disapproval was expressed
should not have been turned into a remark about a student learning skills in stripping!

Dear harmonica
Why focus on just "racism" then.
Why not address religious and political biases and discrimination by those groups as well?

That would seem more practical. Since everyone I know objects to other groups pushing THEIR political beliefs or religious biases while misrepresenting or overriding their own.

If racism becomes meaningless to address,
what about political discrimination by beliefs?

Isn't that affecting more people? So that solutions to this prevalent problem would also BENEFIT more people.
