They are nowWhat are you babbling about? Houston is #10 on the payroll of high spending teams.
But they stripped down completely and lost for many years to rebuild

You mean cheatedThey are now
But they stripped down completely and lost for many years to rebuild
When the guy mopping the floor at McDonalds can get 60,000 people to pay $150 a ticket to watch him mop, he can make the money professional athletes make.
The Washington Commanders just sold for $6 billion
The team does not have that value because of the guy who takes out the trash
If only all of the low wage teams were woman and blacks. So now you are OK with low wages, high wage differences but over in the other threads you are whining about Low pay vs. high paid jobs.
I said have your DEMS change min wage very high (they had control) and you ran off over here letting Canada lady fight for you?
Same on Taxes....you all spout off RAISE the TAXES.....but you can't change it. Your people don't change it. You know it will tank the economy.
All you do is bark bark bark. Bang Zoom....to the moon.

You really think MLB players will agree to $15 an hour?I favor a minimum wage of $15
Long overdue for a wage that hasn’t been increased in 14 years
Has nothing to do with what athletes and entertainers make
Is English your second language? You really think MLB players will agree to $15 an hour?
I think what is most debilitating is to watch beloved players in smaller market cities leave for these rich teams.. if not for money than for the pressure from the union of not taking max money even if you’d like to stay.People have a romance about the Golden Age of Baseball before money ruled the sport.
There was always a lower tier of Baseball. Teams that barely got by every year. In the 1950s …..They would draw about 600,000 fans a year and at the end of the year they would sell their top players just to meet payroll. Next year, bring in new players and sell off your best.
The Yankees would win EVERY year. Not because they were smarter at picking players but that they would buy the best players
7-11 isn't that bad.the citizens of cincinnatti should file a class action suit for not getting their moneys worth even at 88 million
Very trueI think what is most debilitating is to watch beloved players in smaller market cities leave for these rich teams.. if not for money than for the pressure from the union of not taking max money even if you’d like to stay.
It’s sad to see players who represent a team leave for pinstripes. It would’ve been nice to see Frankie Lindor stay in Cleveland for example…
thats true but you dont think players like Trout and Ohtani would at least like to be in the playoffs some day?...Very true
But it has always been that way with small market teams.
Used to be they would develop talent and sell it to large market teams
Today, they develop talent and they go as free agents to higher market teams
Not always. Even 30 years ago far more HOF players stayed with lower stature teams rather than go.Very true

The Twins kept Kirby Puckett for his whole career. Frank Thomas stayed with the white Sox, George Brett in KC, Chipper Jones in Atlanta, Tony Gwynn in San Diego, Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell in Houston, Barry Larkin for the Reds, Robin Yount in Milwaukee, cal Ripken in Baltimore…
It’s likely most to all of those guys wouldn’t have stayed with those franchises today.

all those guys at least played in the playoffs and the series....Not always. Even 30 years ago far more HOF players stayed with lower stature teams rather than go.

they wont trade him ....he may go as a free agent......the guy who was talking about buying them last summer said he would entertain trading both Otani and Trout for a bunch of young players.....the current owner doesnt have the balls to do it....OhtanI may be in the playoffs this year……just not with the Angels

Many of the smaller market teams do not have huge local TV and Radio contracts. That money propels the teams with higher payrolls. People still go to games. However, I do not get the prices paid and question the worth of going to games. At one time it was economical and now seems closer to the luxury end. Many people still have some money with the elderly having pensions and social security at different levels also.People have a romance about the Golden Age of Baseball before money ruled the sport.

The Reds do not care about the citizens of Cincinnati
They just want to make a profit. They make more money with a small payroll than they would trying to win championships.
Teams like the Mets, Yankees and Dodgers pay a tax to small payroll teams to even things out.
Do you think those teams use the extra money to expand their payroll or increase their profit?
right now shitty pitching outside of Ohtani.........if Ryan was pitching today he would have won a lot more games with these guys.....Angels need to stop playing Fantasy Baseball where if you have the best players, you will win.
Trout, Puhols now Ohtani……some of the best to play the game
How could they lose?
