Mitt's Bain Capital leveraged buyout problem

Romney represents the "Let them Eat Cake" wing of the GOP.

Romney represents the faction of the GOP that watches "It's a Wonderful Life" and cheers for Mr. Potter.

It isn't where Most Republicans are at, which is why he only gets 20% of the vote.

Actually, I think it's a mentality some on the right have... and they usually end up being Romney supporters. Like my Ex-boss who loved Romney. And his solution to his losing the biggest account we had was to fire the employees with seniority because they made more money.

Romney is poison, because he doesn't have empathy to a lot of what is going on out here. He's never gotten dirt under his fingernails one day in his life.

"He looks like the guy who lays you off"- Mike Huckabee.

Man, I wish Huckabee were running.

In 1992, Mitt Romney was running Bain Capital, a private equity firm. Bain Capital bought American Pad & Paper Co. (Ampad) for $5 million.

Over the next several years Romney's firm bled the company dry. Hundreds of workers lost their jobs. Stockholders were left with worthless shares. Creditors and vendors were paid less than 50 cents on the dollar. While they were exploiting the company, Romney's firm charged Ampad millions of dollars in "management fees." In all, Romney and his investors reaped more than $100 million dollars from the deal.
It appears the Republicans' Presidential-nominee is less-Reagan....and....

That's right. Most Republicans want to raise taxes, think the 1% is the enemy, think investing is parasitic, think offshoring is treason, think companies rip off workers at any opportunity, think unions are necessary, think capitalism is destroying the planet, think capitalism is treason, think the GSEs didn't cause the Financial Crisis and think instead capitalism caused the Crisis.

Most Republicans I know are working class stiffs who don't think the purpose of the GOP is making the rich richer.

The "Old Man Potter Wing" appears to only be about 20% of the party. WHich is where your weird Robot is at.

So they eliminated unprofitable companies.

That's bad now? We should support companies that can't pay their bills?

NO, they went into profitable companies and looted them.

IN the case of AmPad, they took a company that only had 11 million in debt, closed half their factories, rang up 400 million in new debt, and left the investors with paper that was junk bond status while paying themselves millions in Management fees.

But beyond the inside baseball stuff, what you are going to have is an image of AmPad workers with jobs vs. pictures like this of Mitt and his boys.

Not the kind of contrast you want when people are afraid of losing their jobs.

Yet after all that, Romney was elected Governor of Massachusetts by the voters.

Only because the Democrats ran a non-entity against him.

Ted Kennedy beat him.
He ducked out of running for re-election because he was trailing potential democrat challengers by double digits.

And he lost to John McCain. JOHN McCAIN!

O'Brien was not a "non-entity," you dope. He was the first person to give Kennedy a real challenge (in Massachusetts, remember) in forever. He didn't run for reelection because he had long harbored further political ambitions. John McCain is a war hero and long-serving US Senator. No push-over.

You are just an agenda whore, admit it.

Yeah, you keep believing that ...

okay, punkotard, let's look at your claims here. (I actually admire your ability to pay attention beyond one sentence. You are making progress, son.)

Shannon O'Brien was a non-entity. How much of a non-entity? Her Wiki Entry doesn't even have a picture. Simply put. Non-entity. And he still only got 49% of the vote after spending 7 million compared to O'Brien's non-existant budget.

Okay, let's look at the claim that he "gave Kennedy a challenge". Once again, you have to look at this thing called "context". The 1994 election had occured right after the William Kennedy Smith RAPE trial and all the scandelous revelations about antics on the Kennedy Compound. It was a year that the Republicans were mounting a serious challenge to Democrats all over the country. So, really, the Republicans could have run a stew-bum and gave Kennedy a challenge that year.

Unfortunately, they ran Romney instead. Who wasn't ever leading Kennedy, but once Kennedy unleashed the AmPad workers crying about how "Mitt Romney cut our throats", he lost by 17 points.

But you did get one thing right.... He didn't run again becaue he harbored bigger ambitions. And losing to a Democrat by double digits would have quashed them faster than you can say, "George Allen".

Now, on to McCain. By any and all rights, he should have beaten McCain. Hated by the GOP rank and file because of his many occassions of rubbing them the wrong way on a number of issues. McCain (much like Newt) was declared dead and buried until he came back and beat Romney. Worse than that, Mitt lost to Mike Huckabee, running on a shoestring budget and hated by the establishment because he pointed out the central message of Christianity is not "Tax Cuts for Rich People".

In fact, Romney only won three Primaries- Michigan 0where his dad was governor) Massachusetts (where he was governor) and Utah (where his fellow LDS Cultists live.) Every other primary- HE LOST.

Are you fucking serious? You are trying to base your evaluation on wiki-fucking-pedia? How completely pathetic can you get?

She served in the MA House of Representatives and state Senate AND served as state treasurer. She was a very well known state pol as anyone in the state at the time could have told you if you had bothered to ask someone who knows instead of trolling wiki-fucking-pedia like some dim-witted Jr High student trying to slap together a research paper the night before it's due. O'Brien beat out the state senate president at the time, a former DNC chairman, a former US Secretary of Labor, and a very popular former nominee for lieutenant governor to win the democrat primary in a massively democrat state.

You're an ignorant fool.

Once again, you don't seem to understand the first thing about MA politics and the weight the name 'Kennedy' in and of itself held in the Baystate. Again you speak from ignorance, and all the wikipedia in the world won't make you look any less the fool for it.

Once AGAIN you prove that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. The reason he was so far down in polls at the time (meaningless polls since everyone knew he was not going to run again) is that he was criticized for spending so much of his term out of state building up a national political machine to further his goals.

It would be better for you not to talk about things you don't know anything about.

Now, on to McCain. By any and all rights, he should have beaten McCain. .

The war hero and long-serving Senator who was (until he actually won the primary) a favorite of the media and who had given Bush a hard run for his money back in 2000?

You're a fucking idiot.

OOooh, I got Punkotard sputtering...

Let's deal with his claims.

The war hero and long-serving Senator who was (until he actually won the primary) a favorite of the media and who had given Bush a hard run for his money back in 2000?

He was also running fourth or fifth in the polls, had to fire his entire campaign staff in the summer of 2007 because he couldn't afford to pay them. He was hated by the conservative base because of Amnesty, the Gang of Fourteen that blocked conservative judges, McCain Feingold, and generally stabbing Bush in the back at every oppurtunity. So a lot of water had passed. The establishment really wanted Romney, but when they realized the voters weren't buying, they got behind McCain.

Once AGAIN you prove that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. The reason he was so far down in polls at the time (meaningless polls since everyone knew he was not going to run again) is that he was criticized for spending so much of his term out of state building up a national political machine to further his goals.

Actually, those polls came out before he made the decision not to run. Not to mention Survey USA had him ranked as #48 amongst 50 governors. HIs popularity was down to 36%. He wore out his welcome.

Once again, you don't seem to understand the first thing about MA politics and the weight the name 'Kennedy' in and of itself held in the Baystate.

Well, I know enough to realize Romney was never that popular and kind of sad. Do we really want a candidate who isn't going to be able to carry his home state in the general election? He lost by 17 points. After spending millions of his own money.

And I'm sure you went to Wiki to find out about those other non-entities. Fact is, you had to look it up, guy. You didn't know who she was without researching it. You don't need to research to know who McCain or Kennedy were. Against someone with a name, with a history, with enthusiasm, and with money, Romney loses.

Barack Obama is not a non-entity.

Do you know who is leading in the polls for the Republican nomination now, ignorant asshole? Do you remember what was going on with his campaign a few months ago, ignorant asshole?
