Mitt Romney's Garbage Man Speaks Out

So you are going to ignore the facts because they come from a source you don't like?

So Romney didn't say in his book:

During my campaign for governor, I decided to spend a day every few weeks doing the jobs of other people in Massachusetts. Among other jobs, I cooked sausages at Fenway Park, worked on asphalt paving crew, stacked bales of hay on a farm, volunteered in an emergency room, served food at a nursing home, and worked as a child-care assistant. I’m often asked which was the hardest job – it’s child care, by a mile.”

“One day I gathered trash as a garbage collector. I stood on that little platform at the back of the truck, holding on as the driver navigated his way through the narrow streets of Boston. As we pulled up to traffic lights, I noticed that the shoppers and businesspeople who were standing only a few feet from me didn’t even see me. It was as if I was invisible. Perhaps it was because a lot of us don’t think garbage men are worthy of notice; I disagree – anyone who works that hard deserves our respect. – I wasn’t a particularly good garbage collector: at one point, after filling the trough at the back of the truck, I pulled the wrong hydraulic lever. Instead of pushing the load into the truck, I dumped it onto the street. Maybe the suits didn’t notice me, but the guys at the construction site sure did…”

Or maybe you didn't like the picture of Romney getting his hands dirty picking up garbage. Does that bother your perception that he is aloof and doesnt connect with people?

Nor does it change the fact that not once in the ad does it claim Romney treats him badly. or that Romney wasnt one of the people who was giving him things.

Maybe you should ignore the propaganda and look to see how Romney has actually treats people and what he actually thinks of people.

Those of us who worked for a living all our lives don't have to take introductory day jobs to find out what it's like to actually...uh....you know.....work.

Only the pampered elites don't know what it's like.

what a petty ad

leave it to the Democrats:lol:

Petty? Let me give an example of the pettiness of the elites:

I drove a truck all my working life and, near the end of my career, drove for a company which hauled into Neiman Marcus stores. In case you don't know, Neiman's (and their NYC affiliate Bergdorff-Goodman) is THE preferred shopping place for the elites. It's where they can get things like Ann Romney's $700 T-shirt.

Anyhow, I made several deliveries to Neiman's on Rodeo Dr, in Beverly Hills, CA. To unload there, you back down underneath the store from a side street. The ramp down is located between the valet service driveway and the parking garage.

While they unloaded the truck, I'd walk up the ramp and sit down on the curb next to the parking garage to smoke a cigarette. Customers leaving the store and going to their cars would have to pass right by me. And, I was easily identifiable as a "service person" because I wore a company uniform shirt.

If I told you how many of them would literally cross over the street and walk on the other side to avoid contact with one of the little people, you wouldn't believe me. And, yes, they were avoiding me because after they'd passed me by on the other sidewalk, they'd come back to my side and enter the garage. Most of the few actually did dare to get close to one of Ann Romney's "you people" wouldn't even make eye contact with me. Fewer still spoke, even when I said something like "Hi" to them. I wouldn't doubt they were all holding their breath to keep from catching something.

That happened every time I went to Beverly Hills and I could tell similar stories from Ft. Lauderdale or Scottsdale or King of Prussia or San Diego or Paramus.

The point is that like that garbage man, they don't want to SEE the people who work so hard behind the scenes who make their lives easy. They want what we do for them, but they don't want to have to acknowledge that we're there. Safely encapsulated in the pleasant little bubble of exclusivity we build for them, they want no contact with us and, in fact, grow nervous and upset when we happen to appear inside their reserved space.

And, these are the kind of people Mitt Romney would bring with him to Washington because he doesn't know anybody else or any other way of life.

dear fucking idiot,

when mitt is NOT in one of his many homes he has the Help living there to secure and mantain it.

how stupid are you people about your own heros?

You are actually telling us that the garbage man lives in the home now under construction? DING DING DING. No one lives in homes that are under construction.

The Romney's don't have live in help to begin with. Not in any of their homes.

The labor union AFSCME is out with a new video featuring Richard Hayes, the man who picks up Mitt Romney's trash at his oceanfront mansion in La Jolla, Calif.

In the spot, Hayes talks about how hard he works in his job each day and criticizes Romney's comments about the 47 percent:

My name is Richard Hayes, and I pick up Mitt Romney's trash. We're kind of like the invisible people. He doesn't realize that the service we provide -- if it wasn't for us, it would be a big health issue, us not picking up trash.

Residents do come out and shake our hands. Sometimes they give us hugs and thank us for the job we're doing, hand us water and Gatorades. Tell us we're doing a good job and keep up the good work. Picking up 15, 16 tons by hand, that takes a toll on your body. When I'm 55, 60 years old, I know my body's gonna be break down [sic]. Mitt Romney doesn't care about that.

Sure. That's why they did it even when I wasn't smoking.

You think that's bad? You oughta seen their reaction the times I actually had to go into the store for some reason. OMG! There's a SERVICE PERSON daring to violate the Inner Sanctum of the elites!

I kid you not...I never did that without having to explain to security who I was and why I was there. The ONLY reason for that was that I appeared to be not one of them.

If you really want to be invisible. Try being 60 years old and go into a Wet Seal store. If anyone looks at you at all, it's because they think you are shoplifting for stuff to sell at a yard sale.

I went with a friend of mine, as she held teeny bopper dresses up to see how she'd look, the sales people broke out in gales of laughter, but not a single one said "Can I help you find something".

OMG there's an OLD person in here!

Oh, I am certain Mitt has a close relationship with all his SERVANTS (as long as he needs them).

When are you going to admit that Mitt is a servant. He serves his fellow man. his life is evidence of that. He served people in his career, in his various non-profit activities, as Governor, in his personal life, in his Church, and soon as President.

This election has definitely shown me one thing. Envy, greed, jealousy, corruption, and pride are really dark attributes to have.

You mean security guards would stop you and ask you who you are?! How scandalous! I mean why on earth would security guards stop people who they don't know and question them before entering a building?!

I truly thought this was a parody ad when I heard it for the 1st time.
Just count the number of “ya knows” this assclown says during the ad.
Maybe he should have learned to speak better, and make a complete sentence without using the gratuitous “ya know” so much.

Is this what the left is having to do in order to push their class warfare bullshit?

I don’t recall ever bringing my mailman or meter reader a cool glass of water either..in fact my stupid dog barks at them…. does that make me a bad person? If it does… well so be it.

One more thing… my garbage man does not even speak engrish…. WHATS UP WIT DAT MAN???

You're right...there ARE people like that. I can't stand to be around "rich" people that are so uppity and won't "lower" themselves to be kind to other people. But they are not all like that. And being in Beverly Hills, i could see how you would run into more of them there!

But again....maybe they avoided you by going across the street so they didn't "smell" your cigarette smoke! Hey....not just rich people do that. Some people think if they get one little whiff of cig smoke they're going to die of cancer! :)

I'm in Beverly Hills every day! Like most people in the world, people in Beverly Hills do not fall down and perform obesiance to the poor in gratitude of how many wonderful things they do. Mostly they go about their business, unconcerned with what anyone else is doing. Believe it or not, and liberals won't, the service workers of Beverly Hills, the maids, housekeepers, gardeners and garbage men don't care what other service workers are doing either! I have personally witnessed, and I know you won't believe me, but garbage men go around collecting garbage and never say a single word to the gardeners who work just as hard as the garbage men do. They don't see those gardeners unless they get in the way, or throw a load of grass on an already full dumpster. The garbage men wouldn't even give a lift in the truck to a postal worker who sprained an ankle.

The poor are more apt to treat service workers more kindly. In Compton if a garbage man had a heart attack his body would be stripped naked before he hit the ground with a couple of the bro's fighting over his shoes.

Whether it's Beverly Hills, Ft. Lauderdale, San Diego or any other city, IF you want someone to "see you" and pay attention to you, the best advice is get out of town because you aren't going to get this kind of attention in any city beyond small town. City people make a point of not seeing anyone.

And ahem, let me bring it up. Neiman's isn't on Rodeo Drive. Neimans is a block down from Barney's on Wilshire. Are you confused, or just made the whole thing up.
