Well... How many school districts/schools have switched to healthy lunches?
Also, I said I would be perfectly ok with lunches being a school district issue.
Although ... No one has really addressed the OP. Which was a panel of generals stating Americas kids are too fat, and it's effecting our armed forces and national security.
that's because they have to attend to the raging hardons they have for obama and his wife.
multitasking is hard when you're stuck on stupid, i guess.
between the huge amounts of homework and all the electronic distractions, i think it's a lack of exercise as much as poor diet that has caused our kids to more and more closely resemble goodyear blimps.
CaféAuLait;6056916 said:Of course anything good for the child is going to be unpalatable if they are fed high sugar high fat foods at home. These kids need to learn to eat healthy foods. Beyond that though, these kids need to get more exercise. I think the lack of exercise is a much bigger factor when it comes to childhood obesity. Just addressing diet issues without addressing the problem with lack of exercise is only looking at one part of the problem.
An example of what was ACTUALLY served at a Massachusetts school today (may have been yesterday) is: Brussels sprouts in mayonnaise. EWWWWWWWWWW! A local radio show was discussing this...short version: it's getting thrown away. Also, there's a problem that nobody saw: the alleged "lunch" is utterly inadequate for any student that plays sports! I played HS sports, and even if I DID eat a full lunch, I was RAVENOUS by the time I got home from a game!
( emphasis added)
I just read that article:
I heard that they served Brussels sprout salad at one of the schools and it was absolutely disgusting it was sprouts and mayo a total
waste of money is what one teacher told me, said Karen Quarantiello. I mean, what kid is going to eat that?

Your hallucinations are your own problem. I suggest dialing your intake of magic mushrooms way back.

i usually try to avoid making substantive statements for just that reason.

i went and looked at the lunch menus and strangely, there's no mention of brussell sprouts in mayo.
i wonder why that is?
First they came for our soda, then they came for my tater tots...
The school system was created to educate children, not to feed them. WIC and foodstamps were created to feed them.
If you have kids, you know, that very early, they will choose good food over shit. I've seen it over and over - Kids instinctively carrots over those disgusting cardboard strudel things

soda and tater tots are not food (except if you're Chris Christie) and nothing koshergirl says will change that. Nor does it make any sense to feed kids more calories because they're under nourished.
If you have kids, you know, that very early, they will choose good food over shit. I've seen it over and over - Kids instinctively carrots over those disgusting cardboard strudel things, real food over the heavy calories/low nutrition that koshergirl wants to feed them. But, if you keep pushing the fatty pizza - because you're too lazy to prepare a real meal - they'll get into the habit of fat and salt and more more fat.
Presto - you have a good little American kid, well on his way to heart disease and cancer and childhood onset diabetes.
Teach the parents differently? Really? And, who taught them how to eat? And, where do they get the money to feed their kids wholesome, whole foods?
(They could have aborted half of them and thus, had more resources for the others but Rs want to control that too!)
alanThe school system was created to educate children, not to feed them. WIC and foodstamps were created to feed them.
And, WIC and food stamps is not enough. Not enough by more than half IF you want to eat real food. That's why the push to be able to use food stamps in "restaurants" like McDonald's. You can buy a lot more calorie-dense shit at McDonald's than you can get fresh produce and whole grains at the health food store. All that does is guarantee that the kids will look like Chris Chirstie's kids and all be diabetic. Which, in turn, creates a drain on the ER-based health system Mittens and other SOCIALIST R's want. Who pays for that? TAXPAYERS. (Yes, even a few rw's pay a little here and there.)
You rw's DO NOT want to feed our nation's kids. What you want is to punish them for not doing a better job of choosing their parents.
If we feed our children high quality food and if we educate our children to be able to enter the work force, its a good investment.
If we teach them to eat McDonald's poison and refuse to educate them, all we do is give the rest of the world a leg up on us.
And, THAT is exactly what MitWit, Kochs, WalMart want because that's what they need to work their warehouses and stores.
Michelle Obama is a fat ass. Ever seen her from behind? That's where all the chicken wings go.
