ME Ballot for $12 Minimum Wage in 2016

If it's gonna be done, this is the way it should be done - by a vote within the state. Not a federal mandate. Don't like it? Move to another state that is more in line with your beliefs.

Just remember this: Arby's may "have the meats", but you're going to pay one hell of a lot more for it.....

Exactly. Then other states can judge by their experience if it is positive or not.

It's official, Maine will have a ballot question in 2016 to raise the minimum wage to $12.00 an hour.

Maine minimum wage hike qualifies for 2016 ballot
(1) We haven't agreed (voted) on it, yet and (2) complicating the issue is the fact that a couple of largest cities in Maine have already approved higher minimum wage within their confines. That hurts businesses outside the cities who are offering less and can attract less workers. They are almost forced to offer the higher wage anyway. Since Maine is one of the least successful states economically, I'm not sure looking to our experience will be very helpful.
