Exactly. Then other states can judge by their experience if it is positive or not.If it's gonna be done, this is the way it should be done - by a vote within the state. Not a federal mandate. Don't like it? Move to another state that is more in line with your beliefs.
(1) We haven't agreed (voted) on it, yet and (2) complicating the issue is the fact that a couple of largest cities in Maine have already approved higher minimum wage within their confines. That hurts businesses outside the cities who are offering less and can attract less workers. They are almost forced to offer the higher wage anyway.
