McDonald's to Raise Wages

When hard-working people earn a living wage with benefits, they pay taxes instead of receiving government assistance and actually have more disposable income to spend on growing the (local) economy,

So many people refuse to recognize that poorly-paid workers have no choice but to be dependent on government and/or charities. More jobs with better pay (so people could churn the economy) would solve a lot of our problems.

More than 60 percent of low-wage workers are employed by big corporations

Higher wages likely means higher prices. That means their products or service will have to improve for the extra cost yo be worth it. Neither are likely to happen. That means I'll likely be going to BE and KMart mire often this sumner.

Increasing Min wage NEVER has done anything to the US economy except to drive it. Increasing wages to those on the margin NEVER shows the horror stories cons predict. Ever. Good Biz deals with costs all the time
So jack it to $50/hour and eliminate poverty. Go on, you've ducked it so far.

Elasticity of Labor Demand

Elasticity is a means of measuring responsiveness. If the price of a good changes, how responsive is the change in quantity demanded? A relatively large change in Qd suggests that demand is quite responsive, or elastic. A relatively small change in Qd indicates that demand is less responsive, or inelastic.

Why the reluctance to address the question at hand? Why not jack the MW to $50/hour right now and eliminate poverty? I've even made it easy for you.

Why not make then hire enough and pay enough to end poverty on earth! We could just pass a law tomorrow and the problem of poverty and low wages would be solved forever!!!!

if liberals passed a law tomorow that that newspaper ads had to be priced 20% higher fewer newspaper ads would be sold. You cant change the law of supply and demand.
Liberals simply lack the IQ to understand capitalism.

Liberals are in effect communists. MW is just one of a 1000 soviet interventions they seek to interfere with freedom and capitalism.

Weird how conservatives can never seem to point to ANY policy in the US they were on the correct side of history on at any time???

Conservatives have always supported freedom and our founding principles that created the greatest nation on earth in human history while liberals spied for Stalin and Hitler and still believe in powerful central govt.

Got it, you refuse to read about the elasticity of labor and how it's influenced by small versus larger changes. I'm shocked

Yeah, EXCEPT the Founders were the most liberal extremists of their times, and the loyalists to King George were Tories/conservatives. Go figure!

too stupid as always if it didn't matter what price charged for labor it would not matter what price you charged for anything. THe fact is we'd all eat out all the time were it not for the expense!

Get it now?

LOL, You can't be reasoned with Bubba, EVEN linking to how elasticity of labor works.

So YOUR premise of low wage workers getting a wage would increase prices was BS then? Got it

of course when wage costs go up in an industry( fast food for example) prices will go up in that industry, sales will decline, and there will be fewer jobs.

Econ 101. ever think of college??

Weird, so the increasing wages at the top hasn't cost US jobs? How about the most profitable increases on wall strEet bonuses, that doubled ALL min wage job costs, did that increase prices and hurt jobs and US? LOL

The Job Loss Myth
The Most Rigorous Research Shows Minimum Wage Increases Do Not Reduce Employment

The opinion of the economics profession on the impact of the minimum wage has shifted significantly over the past fifteen years. Today, the most rigorous research shows little evidence of job reductions from a higher minimum wage. Indicative is a 2013 survey by the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business in which leading economists agreed by a nearly 4 to 1 margin that the benefits of raising and indexing the minimum wage outweigh the costs.

This page reviews the most widely-cited and influential studies on the impact of minimum wage increases on employment, and examines the primary reasons why low-wage employers can afford higher wages today.

The Job Loss Myth Raise The Minimum Wage

60% OF MIN WAGE JOBS ARE 500+ EMPLOYEE SHOPS

Comp%20vs%20profits.jpg
Cool. Let's raise it to $100/hour and eliminate poverty altogether. Of course you say, "That's ludicrous, because doing that would immediately eliminate all the jobs". Thus, raising the MW DOES impact jobs, but if you do it slowly enough and keep it low enough, it doesn't impact them too much too fast, but it does still impact them. Ever wonder why you don't have a teenager come out, wash your windshield, check your oil, and pump your gas when you pull into a gas station? They used to. Raise it by a dollar, and you might not see too many jobs lost. Raise it by 50%, and you will.
Facts prove your entire post is bullshit.
