McDonald's to Raise Wages

This, along with Wal-Mart's announcement that they will also raise pay, is a sign the economy is getting better.

McDonald’s Corp. plans to raise pay by more than 10% and add benefits like paid vacation for workers at U.S. restaurants it operates, an effort to rejuvenate the struggling fast-food giant that offers fresh evidence of rising wage pressure in the American labor market.

Starting July 1, McDonald’s will pay at least $1 per hour more than the local legal minimum wage for employees at the roughly 1,500 restaurants it owns in the U.S. The increase, which McDonald’s said will apply to some 90,000 workers at all levels of experience and rank, will lift the average hourly rate for its U.S. restaurant employees to $9.90 on July 1 and more than $10 by the end of 2016, from $9.01 currently. McDonald’s also will enable workers after a year of employment to accrue up to five days of paid time-off annually.

yes and they would have to do same for low wage workers if liberal unions taxes and deficits didn't drive 40 million low and middle wage jobs off shore. Inviting in 20 million illegals didn't help much either!!

That means they are planning a massive roll out of automation and significant reductions in the workforce.

Indeed. The schedule to Unleash the Robots will now be accelerated.

it doesn't matter to liberals as long as they have not driven every single job to china or replaced every job with a robot.
If there is just one job left at a high mimimum wage they will be very happily call it a victory!

Liberals dont do that. Business owners do. No one is forcing them to automate. They want to make more money while feeding the population crappy food.

You do know Mcdonalds is losing money........

You do know that McDonalds is a franchise operation, right? The corporate parent (the entity which is losing money, which BTW is not running in the red, profits have merely been on the down) doesn't pay the wages of the people in the stores. Those wages are paid by the franchise owners.

Guess the protests paid off at the fast food places?

Perhaps, which goes to show that dealing with wages through self advocacy between one's self and one's employer is a far superior solution to dealing with low wages than resorting to government action.

. No one is forcing them to automate. They want to make more money while feeding the population crappy food.

too stupid!!!
1) capitalism forces them to be efficient, i.e., to survive with low competitive prices that enrich customers

2) they don't make more money with automation since everyone can automate and lower their prices so profits stay the same. The customers get lower prices from automation, the owner does not get higher profits

Can the liberal understand??

How do you news that McDonald's began producing clothing, bedding and wallpaper in Europe?)

Yeah, NOT Corp greed ?

Republican capitalism prevents greed. If one corporation gets greedy a competitor will under sell him and drive him into bankruptcy. Does the libcommunist have the IQ to understand?

For 15th time can you tell us if your are indeed a communist?
