MOSCOW, July 13 (RIA Novosti) - At least 18 people, including one child, have been killed in a traffic accident on the outskirts of Moscow, the Russian capital’s emergency services said Saturday.

The collision between a packed passenger coach and a goods lorry loaded with crushed stone took place in Moscow in the early afternoon on Saturday, the Emergencies Ministry said.

It confirmed that 18 people died in the accident and a further 28 have been hospitalized, 15 of them gravely injured.

“Fire-fighters and rescue teams are working at the scene,” a Moscow emergencies ministry spokesman said.

Reports of the numbers of people involved vary, but according to reports in the local media the bus is thought to have been carrying 41 people at the time of the accident.
The tabloid news site Lifenews has posted what it says is an eyewitness video from the scene of the crash showing a bus ripped in two and an overturned lorry.

The lorry's driver is an Armenian national who has been fined six times for violating traffic rules over the past 12 months, Russian officials said adding that he survived the crash and has been hospitalized.
