As far as what he looks like, he looks like any guy that I would see in the local supermarket. That is what makes this such a tragedy. How do you defend against something that you don't understand, or even have any early clues for? The only possible clues, from what I see on the news now, is the fact that he bought a bunch of guns, and, probably, the kits to convert them to full auto.

Not only was he pretty non descript, but he didn't have any kind of a police record, never had done anything to make his neighbors take notice, was a pilot, had 2 planes registered with the FAA, and was a retired accountant who was also a multi millionaire.

He also had no political affiliation of any kind.


Pretty much everything opposite of what you would suppose a mass shooter would look like.

Yes, but things don't add up with this.

What's to add up? He rented a place where he had 2 adjoining rooms. He broke out the glass in each of the rooms, and set up a rifle on a tripod, pointing out of each broken window. He then opened fire for around 10 min, with both rifle shots and with automatic fire, switching between the 23 weapons he had stored in the room. Because of his post, nobody really knew where he was, and it took the police 72 minutes after the initial 911 call to find him and breach the door.

Look at how much time he had from the time it was reported to the time they found him. A full 72 min, which means that it was over an hour before they found him. One man in a vantage point like that CAN do the kind of carnage inflicted in Vegas if they have that much time to work with.

Especially if they pre planned like this dude did. He was in the hotel for 3 days before the attack, so he had plenty of time to set up.

I wonder if these drugs can push a person over the edge, allowing them to commit such atrocities? It is pretty well known that these drugs can actually worsen depression and cause suicidal ideation. Makes you wonder about these kinds of drugs that are just given out because someone feels depressed or anxious. I think we are a very overmedicated society and I wonder if that plays any role in violent behavior.

Snappy people don't have a good sense of planning, because for them (generally) everything is spur of the moment.
