Local, national officials decline to appear with Trump in Pittsburgh - CNNPolitics

Local and national officials are declining to appear with President Donald Trump on Tuesday when he visits a grieving Pittsburgh, where funerals for slain congregants at the Tree of Life synagogue are set to begin.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi were all invited to join the President but were not planning to take part in the visit, according to two congressional sources. Through their offices, McConnell and Ryan both cited scheduling conflicts.

Pennsylvania's two US senators were also not planning to join Trump in Pittsburgh. Sen. Pat Toomey, a Republican, was invited to join the President but declined, according to a spokesman, citing previous commitments in another part of the state. Democratic Sen. Bob Casey was not invited by the White House, according to his communications director. Casey will attend a vigil for the victims in southeastern Pennsylvania.

A spate of local and state officials also said they would not appear with Trump when he visits a hospital and pays respects to the 11 victims of Saturday's massacre.

Trump is becoming more isolated than Iran.

Why would Pelosi or Schumer or any of the left join in any kind of show of sympathy for those killed? It is not like they care.

Correct. The Bush Bots were never supporters of his either, being as much traitors and America haters as Democrats are; this fake news is of course not going to have one iota of effect on the voting; the democrats are still going to lose and not even get the normal mid-term turnover of seats.

Who IS going to attend with Trump? Probably everyone and their uncle got invited (except the poor Democratic senator from Pennsylvania) and because Jewish funerals have to be held so quickly after a death, it is hard for people to work into their schedules with two days notice. I wonder if this is really "shunning" or an attempt at juvenile snark by the media?

I do recall the mayor saying he would like Trump to hold off, though, because they have so much security to worry about with the funerals that they don't have the staff to also worry about a Presidential visit at the same time.

I also wonder if politicians EXCEPT local/state ones have any call to be there. Is it just politicizing a tragedy if they do? I suppose the President has to show up, but all the rest? Why?

True. They will probably still vote in the election even though they're dead, though: Democrats are in a fever pitch gathering up all illegal votes they can get their slimy lil hands on this go round. All they have to do is back date mail in ballots for them.
