Littman Wedding in the teeth of terrorist thugs

Two weeks ago the brides family went to visit the grooms family for a religious meeting. The car carrying papa, mama, brothers and sisters was ambushed and papa and brother were killed. It was a typical piece of barbarity we are are so used to.

Last night there was a huge huge wedding. So there!

The prime minister's wife attended, along with countless others.

There are lots of weird bits to the ceremony. The signing of the marriage contract, the veiled bride goes around the groom 7 times. Weird.


Jewish weddings are loud and there is a lot of strange music and weird vocalizations. But everyone had a great time

It suits the Israelis very well. From an American perspective it is bizzzzare. But from an Israeli it is tremendous fun. People were dancing and yelling and singing. It was obvious they were having a whale of a good time. Very different from an american style which is very solemn.

There are so many interesting traditions in a jewish wedding that are different. One of them is the bride passes out candy to kids at the beginning of the service. She wants to spread the joy. Something which Korean and Chinese also do is give the bride a throne to sit on as she meets people coming to see her.
