Liberals: How Did The Automobile Get Invented When There Was No DMV?

If the government had been involved in the development a car would have 4 to 6 backup gears and only one forward gear. The steering wheel would be on the right side of the car even though we drive on the right side of the road, windshield wipers would only be on the side windows, the glove compartment would be in the trunk, along with the four spare tires, and the back seats would face the rear, just to name a few bureaucratic inspirations.

How was it possible for Microsoft to get started when the top tax rate was 70% or so?
When they started they had little or no money so they weren't IN the top tax bracket.

Answer Fail! Try to stay on topic please!

Ah, but the Right would have us believe that innovation is being throttled by high taxes. That the super rich 'job creators' have no incentive to do anything because they can't bear the thought of paying an extra 3% on their last million so they'd rather not even make it.

So again, why was Microsoft developed if Bill Gates knew he'd some day face a 70% tax rate on some of his millions?

The Conservatives would also have us believe that anybody wanting to invent something today would look at the taxes they would have to pay when rich and decide they just would rather keep flipping burgers or whatever.

The first Automobile in America was made by the Dureya Brothers in 1893 yet the DMV (as we know it now) wasn't established until 1915!

Question for you Liberals: How is it possible that a revolutionary vehicle like that was made without the direct support of a giant gov't agency?

Of course had Henry Ford gone into the car business today?

ALL FORDS would be imports from some third world shithole.

That's actually a good point, but the Police Department has Police Officers, Detectives and BOLO's for such a thing. (When they're not running Radar Guns on us!)

Yes, but how does the job get done without the information at hand? How is a police department going to put out a BOLO for a car, without anything more than a description that could match 10,000 other vehicles across the state?

The tax you pay on a gallon of gas is supposed to be used for road maintenance. But congratulations, you did better than all the other Liberals combined! Repped!

It does part of the job. But not all of it. At the end of the day, registration fees are pretty negligible compared to the tax collected from gas. If your registration costs $100 for two years, that's about 96c a week. Figure, if you're burning 20 gallons of gas in a week, that comes out to .05 a gallon. We already pay well more than that in gasoline taxes. But if the state did away with registration fees, they'd probably respond with at least a 10c a gallon tax increase to make up the difference.

But they want to control everything else you do

Like....?

Whether you have to purchase medical insurance. What doctors you can see. What options your insurance offers. What kind of house you can build. How you can use your land. What you can sell. Who you can sell it to. How much you can charge. How much you pay your employees. What benefits you can offer them or not offer them. What you can buy. What features you have on your automobile. Yada, yada, yada. The list takes up 170,000 pages in the federal register.

So in Texas under Bush then Perry....is pot legal? I mean if it isn't, the blood red government is telling me what I can sell; right?

So in Texas under Bush then Perry....there are price controls on what I sell/what I buy? That doesn't seem to jive with the situation on the ground since I would think that the market would dictate that and we're not hearing about persons fleeing NM, OK, AR, LA to buy stuff in Texas.

So in Texas under Bush then Perry....is there a lot of casinos? Legalized prostitution? Are all of the houses the same? Do all benefit packages resemble one another? Are all of the cars the same?

It would seem that you're not researching your topic very well.

When and why did driving become only a privilege approved or disapproved of by Government? Seems like a fair question no? Makes you think.

I'd guess when they started collecting money through taxation for them, not exactly a partisan issue as the op suggest though.

I hear ya but it does seem like more & more of our rights are becoming mere 'privileges' approved or disapproved of by Government. We have way too much Government in our lives. Seems like at every turn you bump into Government. They're everywhere now. I see a day not too much in the distant future where everything will be considered a 'privilege' by Big Government. It sure looks like we're headed that way anyway. It's sad.

Your deflection was promptly shit on, give it up......

I don't you see you defending the OP's retarded premise you corpulent coprophage.

It's because of idiots like you that we have as much government as we.

Government protects us from you.

Attaching a "fee" onto what used to be a "right" makes it a "privilege" in the gov'ts eyes.

Who watches the "Watchers?" Who protects us from them? When will all of our rights become 'privileges' provided to us by almighty Big Government? Looks like we're headed there very quickly. I'm sorry you don't want to see this but it is happening. Have a good Saturday. See ya.

It has damage on it matching your car and probably paint transfer too.

Great observation. Thanks.

The government is out of control, but I don't view them as a separate entity, they're a direct effect of the US citizens actions, or inactions as the case may be. To point the finger at them is to point the finger at ourselves...it's a decades-long snowball that could have been stopped with more civic diligence.
