from the article:
A leading GOP Senate candidate in Pennsylvania once wrote a fiction thriller novel that contains graphic scenes of violence against women, raising more questions about his attitude towards women in the wake of court testimony that he abused his estranged wife.
(Warning: this caption will include some of the details from Sean Parnell’s book, which may be upsetting to some people.)
Parnell’s wife, Laurie Snell, testified at a child custody hearing yesterday that her husband strangled her, called her a “whore” and a “piece of s---” and assaulted their children.
In his fiction book “Man of War,” Parnell features several scenes in which he describes female characters being assaulted — and the attackers reveling in their pain.
In one scene, Parnell wrote about a female CIA agent being beaten by a rogue military official who “savored the grimace of pain that flitted across her face and the fear that sparked in her eyes.”
Parnell denied his wife's allegations. His campaign didn't directly respond to a question about why he described, in multiple scenes in the book, attackers taking pleasure in their assaults on women.
