This would happen all over the world. You have to feel for all these refugees who had to leave their own country,, but you can also understand how the locals are feeling.

Lack of social support changes hospitality to hostility


Last Tuesday, a large group of locals in the southeastern province of Gaziantep began to attack Syrian refugees who allegedly murdered the landlord of an apartment where Syrians had been residing. A large number of police were sent to the neighborhood to break up the disturbance. The protesters stopped and attacked cars with Syrian plates on the streets.

Last week in Adana, another southern province located near the border with Syria, several stores owned by Syrian refugees were attacked by a group of locals. I watched several interviews with locals on TV. A Turkish shopkeeper was complaining about these Syrian competitors: “No paying tax, no permission from the local government, no supervision, control or auditing; what will I do? I have to do all of these things, but they don't!”
