The union plan calls for creation of an independent government commission to decide future immigration of temporary and permanent workers based on labor market needs. The commission would be required to examine the impact of immigration on the economy, wages, the work force and business.

"It goes to the question of how do we take employers, who are in many cases the bad actors in this, and have somebody make the decisions based on real needs rather than politics or economic gain," said Eliseo Medina, executive vice president of the Service Employees International Union, a member of Change to Win.

But many employers who rely on seasonal guest workers say they are frustrated with government limitations and need more help.

"We are skeptical of a commission actually being able to do a real time, up-to-date evaluation of the labor market because the labor market always moves ahead of government statistics," said Randel Johnson, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's vice president on labor issues.

Johnson called the union plan an excuse to oppose expanding temporary worker programs that many business leaders see as crucial for a recovering economy.

Union leaders said their plan has earned positive feedback from the White House as well as immigration advocacy and civil rights groups.

Sounds like an unconstitutional waste of money to me.

Everything is unconstitutional to you. Can you explain how this is unconstitutional?

Bottom line is, the more I listen to groups like the AFL CIO, the more I realize that I'm not crazy. Labor is under attack.

And they also confirm I am with the right party. You guys suggest the Dems are no better than the GOP, but then why do the labor unions always side with the Dems?

That would be like me saying the GOP is no better than the Dems for rich people. Huge difference.

It's seems "YOUR" party can't make up their fucking minds, open borders or labor unions ? ..........

I think having you read the Constitution and then pointing out where it explicitly states that the government has the authority for said commission would be a better learning experience, maybe then you'll realize why "everything is unconstitutional to me."

That's because it isn't that simple. Nothing is. You know as well as I do rounding up all the illegals and sending them home tomorrow isn't an option. Well, at least I know that.

And you know that we can't keep the status quo, which is illegal employers, lowering American wages, open borders, illegals using ER's as their healthcare providers, etc.

And YOUR party is divided on this too my brother. Half of you are the racist minute men who want to throw out all the illegals, and the other half of your party are the illegal employers hiring these illegals.

Or forget illegals. Your party is the party pushing for more Guest Worker Visa's. Bill Gates says America doesn't have enough IT people to fill all the jobs.

Anyone buying that? I don't.

So the unions are going to push for real immigration reform. Since getting rid of them all is not a real option, we may as well tax them and make sure they have drivers licences and car insurance, etc.

Wow! Where do the Republicans stand on this issue?

That's what I thought.

You always side with dems and labor because you're a socialist. Anyone that's been here more than week knows that.

And no, you aren't on the right side. You're on the weak, I can't do shit for myself side.

So you consider people who work for someone else weak? And you see us as "not being able to do shit for ourselves?" What is it you want us to do for ourselves?

Instead of asking for a raise, what should I do? Am I looking for a handout when I ask for a raise? Am I a socialist when I ask for a raise?

Because I rely on that company for an income, does that make me weak?

Do you own your own business?

So I graduated from college and went to work for a corporation. Millions of Americans choose that option, rather than own our own business. Were we wrong to chose that route?

And Gunny, stop sounding like a jackass with your cries of Socialism. It's pathetic at this point.

Please get a dictionary and learn what socialism means before you try to launch it as some kind of attack. There is nothing about labor unions that is socialist, they're a practical measure within capitalism.

A "practical measure within capitalism" that leads to higher unemployment? I'm not sure how "practical" that actually is.

Sounds like an unconstitutional waste of money to me.

Explain just exactly how it unconstitutional?

I agree with the guest worker programs, as long as we have e-verify, crack down on illegals, secure the border and make sure the guest workers are not illegal workers or have criminal past!

I'll challenge you the same way that I challenged sealy, read the Constitution and report back which Article and Section explicitly gives the government authority to create any such commission.

I don't see having the union fox in the US policy henhouse as being a good idea under any circumstances.

Why don't we enforce existing laws? There is a lot more to the issue of course, but that is the most passive and least intrusive measure against illegal immigration I can think of.

Am not holding my breath.
