The right wing has been going after the Komen foundation for years for their support of Planned Parenthood. They finally got a RW tool of a CEO that tried to crowbar in their agenda. Methinks the RW has gone back to the war room to regroup after a lost battle.

And Stephanie is right, Komen will be fine, but so will Planned Parenthood thanks to generous donations in recent days and the continuing support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Komen did the right thing restoring it immediately upon seeing the backlash all over the place. The worst thing she could have done would be to dig in her heels and try to justify it.

There is a place for Planned Parenthood in women's health.

This GOP is against having sex UNLESS it is one of them including having childen out of wedlock. The GOP is okay with the GOP performing as such so what's up with that?

The Komen Foundation’s surprise funding reversal proves what we’ve long known: The investigation of Planned Parenthood by anti-choice Republican extremists is a partisan witch hunt. Period.

Planned Parenthood’s Komen grants will resume – for now. But as long as this scurrilous “investigation” continues, Planned Parenthood isn’t safe.

Radical anti-choice Republicans won’t rest until every door to every Planned Parenthood in every community is locked and barred -- even if it means more women getting sick.

The Komen Foundation just proved that this “investigation” is motivated purely by extremist right-wing ideology, which has no place in women’s health.

This threat to Planned Parenthood’s funding was a potent reminder of the great work they do. From detecting breast cancer, to preventing unintended pregnancies, to keeping women – and men! – healthy, Planned Parenthood is a vital piece of our nation’s health care infrastructure.

That such a valuable resource would be politically targeted is deeply troubling.

There is absolutely every reason to support the Planned Parenthood goal of reducing abortion through education and contraception:

Birth control allows us to prevent pregnancy and plan the timing of pregnancy.

Which is why it has been supported by Republicans since 1970...Even "Mr. Conservative", Barry Goldwater supported Planned Parenthood.

If It Was Good Enough For Reagan...

That was before abortion became a national sport.

Nancy Reagan was the bug supporter of Planned Parenthood. So was First Lady Ford.

Abortion numbers have been dropping for many years probably due to education and contraceptives not due to radical nut jobs.

No, liar, they are no longer dropping, and they never dropped very much.

They climbed steadily for DECADES, tapered off, dropped for a few years, and now they are holding steady. At exponentially higher numbers than they were when RvW was put in place.

Not only that, they dropped in the 80s and 90s after the AIDS scare and Reagan's conservative agenda made it "cool" to abstain from sex outside of committed relationships.

They're not victims of their success at all. They are victims of their own stupidity and lies like you. Here's a little fact check info:

Q: How much of Planned Parenthood’s services are dedicated to abortions? Does the federal government fund those procedures?

A: Abortions represent 3 percent of total services provided by Planned Parenthood, and roughly 10 percent of its clients received an abortion. The group does receive federal funding, but the money cannot be used for abortions by law.

FULL ANSWER

We received several questions on this topic during the recent budget debate in Congress, after Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl claimed this month on the Senate floor that "well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does" is provide abortion services. That figure was wildly incorrect. Planned Parenthood says only 3 percent of its total services in 2009 were abortions. The other 97 percent of services were for contraception, treatment and tests for sexually transmitted diseases, cancer screenings, and other women’s health services.

Here’s a chart from a March 2011 fact sheet, which reported that the group performed about 11.4 million total services.

FactCheck.org : Planned Parenthood

then they should go out and ask for donations for their baby killing..most of you in this thread would step up

So you finally admit that no federal funding goes for planned parenthood abortions?

LOOK! John Kyl's lie actually made Wikipedia. There is NO LIMIT to what the GOP will do or say to make Dems look bad.

Jon Kyl - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On April 8, 2011, Kyl spoke on the Senate floor and claimed that performing abortions is "well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does." Planned Parenthood responded that 90 percent of its services are to provide contraception, STD and cancer testing and treatment, and only 3 percent are abortion-related. A spokesperson for Kyl later claimed the senator’s remark "was not intended to be a factual statement but rather to illustrate that Planned Parenthood, an organization that receives millions in taxpayer dollars, does subsidize abortions." Politifact noted that Planned Parenthood's numbers (from their most recent Annual Report, year ending June 30, 2009[25]) are the result of self-reporting and that there is no national audit on such claims, but stated their belief that Kyl "vastly overstated" the number.[26] A political science professor writing at National Review Online suggested that perhaps Kyl's comments were based on the services specific to pregnancy itself, citing Planned Parenthood's 2009 annual report figures and claiming that 98% of those services were for abortion.[27] The phrase "not intended to be a factual statement" was mocked by political comedians such as Stephen Colbert, who joked, "You can’t call him out for being wrong when he never intended to be right."[28][29][30]

You're so naive, sir.

Big foundations are now under the control of proponents of abortion. These people threaten to make big trouble for foundations, or they are in positions to make their life hell on earth for noncompliance with their demands. In other words:

Today's Foundations are a racket for the militant leftist locksteppers who'd screw ya and leave you with their responsibilities, of which they don't want family obligations.

The people who gave their money to do good in the world are dead. It's like John Heinz, the Republican conservative. He died in a plane wreck and left all his money to Teresa Heinz, who promptly married a politician who was tired of his fate of being married to someone who only had twenty million. He went for the Heinz fortune that he so long had coveted.

Now, he can screw anybody who gets in his way, just like he always tried to do when he wasn't so well-off. If he cared for Americans, he wouldn't have betrayed the million soldiers on the ground in Viet Nam by joining with other people who betrayed them.

He had to have at the time the smile of Jane Fonda upon him, and was under the spell of people willing to be anarchists to get their way.

You might as well spend your own money before you die, because someone will take it and goddamn see to it 54 million Americans aren't born by forcing a way of life on people that is as far from caring about other human beings as you can get.

Foundations become Rackets for Bullies. These asswipes think to themselves, "Oh, there's all that money just sitting around. I want it for my causes. How do I get my hands on it?"

Congress caught on. They saw people leaving fortunes to their families, and all they saw was all that money and families standing in their way of accessing all that money they'd already taxed. Now, they take all they can get away with and spend it the way they want it, not a private individual's family, who often has to sacrifice a private family business to pay estate taxes, and guess what--

Congress don't pay no stinkin' estate taxes on the money they expropriate from estates.

So, OK, let me see if I have this completely straight:

I quote the American Cancer Society, which has compiled huge amounts of data on the subject through multiple studies, and has found conclusively that there is no link between abortion and cancer.

The American Cancer Society, whose focus is CANCER, and has no interest in abortion.

I didn't go to some pro-choice website, and draw from their biased data. I went straight to a source that would have no reason to have a bias.

YOU get your information from pro-life websites, which obviously have a vested interest in the abortion issue, and a vested interest in spreading anti-abortion propaganda.

And obviously the conclusion to draw from this is that the Pro-Lifers are correct, with their cherry-picked data...

and the American Cancer Society is part of some giant Left-Wing conspiracy.

And I'm the one who's "naive"...

Just take a step back for a minute, and look at what your saying.

Wait, wait. Hold on a second.

The Komen foundation made a mistake, and they corrected it.

Why should they still be blamed for the mistake?

I think they should be rewarded and given more respect for realizing their error and taking action to correct it.

Personally, I'm going to join one of their races now, and make sure that when I do, they know the reason why.

good for you..your choice. something you lefties didn't show for Komen when they decided to stop giving their charity to PP..

most of you were pathetic

It's ridiculous how all these right wing-nuts are bitching about a private charity doing what it chooses with its own funds.

the only BITCHING we saw was from the pukes on the left.

wasn't that AMAZING

So let me get this straight. The left opposed government influence in private organizations doing what it wants with its own money, and the right wants private charities to embrace moral dictations from the government. What the left is doing is "bitching" and what the right is doing is......having tea?
