Komen restores Planned Parenthood funding

If the person that made the reckless decision to cut funding did so without first consulting the BOD I say that person should be terminated.

It was not a smart move...

Komen Foundation reverses funding decision of Planned Parenthood - CNN.com

(CNN) -- Faced with a deluge of opposition that included pressure from lawmakers and internal dissent, one of America's leading breast cancer advocacy groups on Friday reversed itself on a decision that would have cut off funding to some Planned Parenthood projects.

"We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives," the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation said in a statement. "We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities."

The group's earlier decision not to renew part of its longstanding partnership with Planned Parenthood, which operates hundreds of family clinics that perform abortions, triggered strong emotions across the country. It provoked objection even from some of its own affiliates...
The only people bashing the statisticians who discovered female cancer is correlated to abortion is militant abortion-supporters.

With 54 million unborn American children died hideous deaths prior to their birth, this is not anything to write home about, kidrocks.

I was around when Roe v Wade passed, and didn't have much of an opinion on abortion at the time since only about 2,000 women a year were thought to need the procedure to prevent dangerous illegal abortions or from unthinkable experiences with a rapist asserting his fatherhood privileges on a threatened, frightened woman.

54 million unborn Americans in 40 years extinguished harshly by someone who hated the thought of having them around was not anticipated by anybody.

Abortion is dangerous and the evidence it could cause serious problems later in life was also not known. The alleged claims that it's not related to cancer reminds me of the tobacco industry who claimed cigarette smoking wasn't a big part of developing cancer, and they produced counterclaim "scientific" evidence supporting their claim in the 50s, which people, now dead of smoking related illnesses, believed.

There is absolutely every reason to support the Planned Parenthood goal of reducing abortion through education and contraception:

Birth control allows us to prevent pregnancy and plan the timing of pregnancy.

People have used birth control methods for thousands of years. Today, we have many safe and effective birth control methods available to us.

All of us who need birth control want to find the method that is best for us. And each of us has different needs when choosing a method. If you are trying to choose, learning about each method may help you make your decision. Use the list of birth control methods above to read about the methods.

Only you can decide what is best for you. And we are here to help. A staff member at your local Planned Parenthood health center can discuss all of your birth control options with you and help you get the birth control you need.

You're so naive, sir.

Big foundations are now under the control of proponents of abortion. These people threaten to make big trouble for foundations, or they are in positions to make their life hell on earth for noncompliance with their demands. In other words:

Today's Foundations are a racket for the militant leftist locksteppers who'd screw ya and leave you with their responsibilities, of which they don't want family obligations.

The people who gave their money to do good in the world are dead. It's like John Heinz, the Republican conservative. He died in a plane wreck and left all his money to Teresa Heinz, who promptly married a politician who was tired of his fate of being married to someone who only had twenty million. He went for the Heinz fortune that he so long had coveted.

Now, he can screw anybody who gets in his way, just like he always tried to do when he wasn't so well-off. If he cared for Americans, he wouldn't have betrayed the million soldiers on the ground in Viet Nam by joining with other people who betrayed them.

He had to have at the time the smile of Jane Fonda upon him, and was under the spell of people willing to be anarchists to get their way.

You might as well spend your own money before you die, because someone will take it and goddamn see to it 54 million Americans aren't born by forcing a way of life on people that is as far from caring about other human beings as you can get.

Foundations become Rackets for Bullies. These asswipes think to themselves, "Oh, there's all that money just sitting around. I want it for my causes. How do I get my hands on it?"

Congress caught on. They saw people leaving fortunes to their families, and all they saw was all that money and families standing in their way of accessing all that money they'd already taxed. Now, they take all they can get away with and spend it the way they want it, not a private individual's family, who often has to sacrifice a private family business to pay estate taxes, and guess what--

Congress don't pay no stinkin' estate taxes on the money they expropriate from estates.

It wouldn't be good if America lost men and women to abortion who:
Might have developed meal-producing agricultural xeriscaping in deserts.

Might have brought peace and food to starving masses worldwide

Might have cured depression

Might have helped develop strategies for families to stay together

Might have stopped human wars

Might have innovated fireproof human housing

Might have prevented the destruction of the rainforests of earth

Might have revolutionized human knowledge of the plant kingdom

Might have helped man to communicate with animals

Might have developed ways for the poor to be rich without taking away from the rich

Might have developed family and societal education that eliminates crime.

Might have ended autoimmune diseases through research

They're not victims of their success at all. They are victims of their own stupidity and lies like you. Here's a little fact check info:

Q: How much of Planned Parenthood’s services are dedicated to abortions? Does the federal government fund those procedures?

A: Abortions represent 3 percent of total services provided by Planned Parenthood, and roughly 10 percent of its clients received an abortion. The group does receive federal funding, but the money cannot be used for abortions by law.

FULL ANSWER

We received several questions on this topic during the recent budget debate in Congress, after Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl claimed this month on the Senate floor that "well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does" is provide abortion services. That figure was wildly incorrect. Planned Parenthood says only 3 percent of its total services in 2009 were abortions. The other 97 percent of services were for contraception, treatment and tests for sexually transmitted diseases, cancer screenings, and other women’s health services.

Here’s a chart from a March 2011 fact sheet, which reported that the group performed about 11.4 million total services.

FactCheck.org : Planned Parenthood

then they should go out and ask for donations for their baby killing..most of you in this thread would step up

So you finally admit that no federal funding goes for planned parenthood abortions?

the hell it doesn't. and what about Obamacare?

Which is why it has been supported by Republicans since 1970...Even "Mr. Conservative", Barry Goldwater supported Planned Parenthood.

If It Was Good Enough For Reagan...

It was a stupid purely politically partisan decision in the first place.

Kudos to them for having the good sense to finally realize how completely stupid the decision was and reversing it.

CEO of Komen and Former Husband Gave Massive Donations to GOP | BuzzFlash.org

Brinker, the CEO, founded Komen in memory of her sister who died of breast cancer in her 30s. But she has also been a Republican "player," having served as ambassador to Hungary and chief of United States protocol under George W. Bush.

Brinker and her late second husband, Norman, have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to GOP candidates and the Republican Party. (Go to Open Secrets and do a full year search (1990-2006, includes soft money) for Nancy Brinker, Norman Brinker and Brinker International (parent company of Chili's) with residency in both Texas and Florida.)
